Dilemma of a guild master

The adventurer's guild of Galdur is one of the six branches of the guild in the kingdom of Themis. It's a very active guild due to the academy. A lot of research materials are needed for the academy. Professors usually hire adventurers to collect those materials.

And this city is an important trade hub. So bodyguard jobs are common as well.

The guild has a tight grip over the adventurers. Because S rank or SS rank adventurers don't roam around all the time. Normally A rank adventurers are the highest on field adventurers.

S rank adventurers are like celebrities. They live good and fulfilling lives. Because they are only called when emergencies happen. S rank jobs? Those are usually completed by multiple A rank adventurers.

Due to there being only 19 S rank adventurers on the continent, they are rather scattered. The guild operates outside of the kingdom of Themis as well.

Jupiter is a world with more water than land. The 3 continents have many countries on them. The kingdom of Themis is on the central continent.

There are a total of 5 countries on this continent. The kingdom of Themis is one of them. Their neighbor is the demon kingdom. Well, that's what the Themians call it.

That country does have an official name. The kingdom is Themis is a young country. Well, two centuries is a lot of time but compared to the other countries, it's young.

Adventurer's guild operates in all of these countries. Continental travel is difficult so it has no influence in other two continents. But as long as it's the central continent, they operate on it virtually anywhere.

S rank was the highest rank for a long time until someone appeared. They were stronger than any S rank out there. So the guild had to make a new rank for them.

It was the SS rank. There were only a few who managed to get to that rank. One of them is Christopher Edelweiss. He reached S rank at the age of 23. It was the fastest till then. And it took him 19 more years to become an SS rank.

19 years to rank up from S rank to SS rank. Because the conditions are just that hard. Even so, he became one. The only other person in his age to become an SS rank would be leader of the Black Scorpions.

He was once a comrade of Christopher but he went rogue when he was promoted. Greed for money, fame and strength had blinded him.

There were only 3 of them. The other one died in a mission. Christopher retired when he turned 50. The Director of the adventurer's guild retired and recommended Christopher for the position.

Every guild master gathered in the capital of Kingdom of Themis. They voted and Christopher won. It's not like anyone else had a chance of winning in the first place.

So Christopher became the Director of the guild and the branch master of the capital's guild.

After Clive finished his first job in Galdur, the guild master, Yuri Agnes, contacted the Director.

(Yes, you usually don't use the hotline, Yuri. Is something the matter?)

"Director, the adventurer you told us to be wary of, Clive Belmont, has arrived at Galdur."

(I see. So, did he go to the guild?)

"Yes. He came in this morning with a bearkin girl and accepted an A rank job."

(A rank? Well again, he has no qualms about what jobs he takes. So, how long did he take?)

"Under an hour. He just accepted the job and left. He didn't even pay much attention to anyone. He had a little girl with him but she seemed like she was used to it."

(That's his daughter. You will meet her mother soon enough. Be prepared, if his entire party goes to the guild, it will be quite the commotion.)

Yuri scratches her head. She is uncertain about the future.

"Director, when he first came in, I was in my office. So I didn't see him for the first time. But after the report, I waited to see who this person is. It was kinda shocking to see a young man like him."

(He may look young and yes, he is a bit ignorant about the world, he has the power to change anything to his will. I guess you can say he is something who will just change the rules if it bothers him.)

Yuri weakly laughs. But soon a different voice comes from the transponder.

(Ms. Yuri, are you okay?)

"Is that you, Maria? It has been a while although we just met some time ago, didn't we?"

(Yes. But we didn't get the chance to talk much. Ms. Yuri, how about you assign a specific person to him. Like how I handle him entire records myself.)

"That's a good idea. It would certainly help me run things smoothly."

That idea itself was not a bad one.

(Still, that man, I wonder what he truly wants?)

"Director, I will keep an eye on him. He didn't notice me when I was looking at him."

(He never notices stuff like that. That kinda makes him look arrogant, doesn't it?)

"I guess. But he is the real deal. He probably won't hesitate to kill someone if it's necessary."

(It's a good thing that you understand. A final word of advice, look out for the people with the name Belmont. They are his family.)

"Belmont? I will keep that in mind. I can only hope that he won't do anything too crazy while in Galdur."

She cut off the conversation. She thinks to herself that she has a lot of work and her workload will increase even more since an S rank is in the city.

Her thoughts came true faster than she thought and Clive got dragged into a mess. This mess was created by a student at the academy. And it did not end well for that poor soul.
