Level 4

Her name was Bethany Sparks. Daughter big time businessman Mr Sparks. Her family lived where the common students at Baytide called 'rich kid Avenue'. Was the name stupid? Yes it was but the rich kids didn't care.

Bethany wasn't a spoiled rich brat, and to prove her point she had decided to go to a school way below what her father could pay for her to go. She didn't want to be around too many rich kids like herself, there'd be nothing special about that.

Among many things, she was also ex-girlfriend to North Rivera, which was why he considered it a good idea to come over and ask for a little help...okay a lot of help.

"So you finally decided come pay me a visit after such a long time?" She asked looking down at him with an expressionless face as he and Migos stood at the entryway.

"Not true, I visited two months ago when we were partnered up for that project." North said quite pleased with himself, it wasn't that he felt uncomfortable after their break up, he was just...always busy. "Come on Beth, you're just looking for an excuse to kick me out."

"Oh, thank goodness you know, so can I call security to get you off my property now?"

"Why are 'you' mad? I'm the one who got dumped."

And that was actually how it happened, they had being friends for a while before Bethany decided to confess her true feelings. North seemed pretty into the idea and they decided to see if things would work out.

Bottom line, things did not work out.

And now she was mad he didn't make a show of it and beg her to stay. Girls right?

"Bethany, please I need your help." He was ready to go on his knees and do anything but date her again and marry her. They'd never be happy together, gaming was his one true love and he was not going to lie to her again since he always still considered her as a friend.

"He really does, he'll probably jump a roof if you don't help him." Migos chipped in.

Bethany sighed and looked down to see North on his knees giving her pleading puppy dog eyes. Admittedly he looked cute, too bad she was no longer in love with this idiot. He was so dense he wouldn't know romance or flirting if they hit him right in the face. Nevertheless she'd still help him because he was still a good friend. "Let me hear what it's about first dimwit."

North got up and told her everything about the Glitches Game Trails in just two quick breaths after which he was breathing very hard.

Bethany flipped her long dark hair which she'd had the bottom tips dyed gold, "So you want me to sponsor you, in a gaming tournament?"

"He just wants you to buy a form for him." Migos answered seeing his friend was still gasping for breath.

There was a long silence which was only broken when Bethany began humming thoughtfully, "Well...you're both my friends..."

"Yes we are." North perked up.

"And I was also wondering what to spend so summer money on..."

"Keep talking."

"I guess I can help..."

"I like the sound of that!"

"But-"

"Migos she said the 'b' word!" An excited North broke down immediately looking like he'd pass out any moment.

"Oh chillax drama queen, I just want to be your manager."

North gave a her a sorry look as he adjusted his posture so she would take him seriously, "Girls don't manage gamers, Bethany, it...it just won't do well for my image."

"You have no image." Bethany and Migos reminded him in a deadpan tone.

She made a scoffing sound, "Fine then, find another rich guy you know that won't be stingy with money."

They knew plenty rich guys from school, but those dudes were stingy.

"What about Tols?" North asked while nudging Migos.

"Are you forgetting he doesn't like you much." Migos nudged back.

North sighed defeatedly before looking up into Bethany's smug face. "Fine, fine, you win boss."

"Of course I do, I always get what I want."

That same day, Bethany bought gold tags for she and Migos and then a ticket for North. North was glad, the fact he got a ticket meant he could get a spot for the Test Phase. The Complex was opening for the first time on Monday which was when North was going to get registered.

On his way home North was so happy, he was sure nothing could spoil his mood. He hadn't taken into account that his dad had returned from his trip and was waiting for him in the living room.

North stopped dead in his tracks.

"I heard you got a 'C' minus on your Spanish test, North, mind telling me what happened?"

North sighed, and quickly decided keeping quiet and accepting whatever came was the best way to get through this with minimal arguing. He kept his eyes on the floor and hoped his mum would walk in and chide his dad to go up and get some rest.

"As I thought, no excuses but I know what the problem is," Mr Rivera said in a stern tone, "Its those dumb video games you keep asking for-"

That was about as much as he was going to take, "How canthey be the problem when I don't have them?"

"You keep going to your friends' houses, it looks like we're chasing you away from home, don't you know how bad that makes us look?" His dad was standing now, "Stop making everyone worry like you're a little brat. I didn't take trash from your siblings so I'm not taking it from you, you hear me?!"

"Yeah I do! But there's no need to tell me you think I'm a disappointment to you but guess what? A test is a test, you fail some you pass some so get off my tail!" North hissed before running towards the stairs to his room.

"Get back down here! North? You're grounded for a week, you hear me?"

"Whatever!" He muttered under his breath as he slammed the door, his mind was working again, he couldn't let all his hard work (and Beth's money) go to waste. He couldn't stand this place. He packed some clothes into a duffle bag and waited for the dead of night to come before sneaking out to the Ramirez house. He stayed by the side door, playing a stupid game on his stupid phone while waiting for dawn to come.

Once it was seven, bright enough so his presence wouldn't be too suspicious, he knocked on the door which was opened by Ms Ramirez.

"North? My you're here early and my, you look tired."

"Um rough night. Is Migos up?"

She turned back into the house and shouted something in Spanish. He heard Migos reply back in the same language. She faced North again, "Go up dear, we're having Tomales for breakfast, sound nice?"

North nodded and thanked her before bounding towards Migos' room. His friend only had to take one look at him to know what was up.

"You snuck out and slept outside, right?"

"Actually, I didn't sleep." North said avoiding they scolding gaze being thrown his way. Migos could be such a mum sometimes.

Migos sighed, and pointed to his bed, "Sleep." He ordered, thank goodness it was a weekend.

North flashed a bright smile jumping unto the mattress. Migos shook his head before falling unto a beanbag and proceeding to watch his anime.

Monday came along quickly and the boys left school quickly back to Migos' place so they could change into their best clothes.

North tied his favorite hoodie around his waist and put on a faded denim face cap of dark blue coloring. It was to hide his hair and he felt it was good luck.

They had a quick lunch which Ms Ramirez left out for them before locking the door and proceeding to wait for Bethany outside on the porch steps.

What they hadn't been expecting was for her to arrive in a black Ferrari that probably belonged to her father.

"Get in boys!"
