The process of the experiment was to infer finer changes from the large variations and recorded data; for instance, the minor components inside cells were certainly not observable through a microscope and could only be inferred from significant changes to deduce what reactions actually occurred.

For the past several decades and even centuries, similar research had always been conducted; to truly observe something new, luck was often more important than skill.
