Chavez was stopped...mid air. There was a force stopping the spear from moving forward, but he couldn't see it.
He began to feel shivers down his spine and his skin started crawling, it was like something was reaching into his body and pulling on his very existence.
Looking forward he could see the girl, maybe a hundred or so inches in front of him from his perspective, what stopped him?
The girl had her sword pointing forward, both hands holding the blade in a fixed posture like she was locked with something.
Then Chavez thought of something.
'Does she really have such an ability?'
'Then again, she survived the spear, it wouldn't entirely suprise me that if prepared for it, she also had a way to stop the spear, but to completely stop it's momentum?'
He scoffed and looked at the girl again now falling to his feet and jumping several feet backwards.
"Who exactly are you?"
The girl didn't respond, and Chavez didn't entirely expect one, but he thought it worth a try, even a name could give him some sort of insight.
The girl took just 2 steps forward, and Chavez could have sworn he saw a smile creep from her lips before quickly being contained. He shivered again.
She brought her blade up again, and swung it down. Chavez barely reacted in time to bring up his spear and block the attack. But what attack?
His senses and gut told him that there was something there attacking him, something deadly, but he couldn't see it, and there was hardly any force at all being put on his spear if any, but the girls swing stopped, so Chavez assumed he'd blocked it.
He immediately took several more jumps back, whatever it was, he couldn't risk getting hit by it when he was still waiting for his medicine to kick in.
Chavez had noticed one thing that was different then before however, now it seemed the girl was fully capable of reacting to the legendary spear that Chavez held, but before it looked as if she didn't even know what hit her.
If that wasn't odd enough to be a red flag, Chavez also couldn't hear any breathing coming from the girl. Of course both of these could be special forms that Chavez hadn't heard of. Like holding your breath to increase your physical capabilities, after what he'd seen already, he was sure it was possible.
A thought crossed Chavez mind that he could just copy her form to match her physical abilities, but if he was wrong and she wasn't doing anything special, he would just end up wearing himself out for no reason.
He perked up suddenly.
'Did I just hear a giggle?'
Chavez looked at the girl, who was now covering her mouth and only holding the blade with one hand.
'Whatever,' Chavez thought, 'Now would be the time to strike while her guards down!'
Chavez quickly bounced to the left, out of the way of the force that stopped him, and immediately dashed for the girl raising his spear up and aiming straight for her neck, then decending..
Chavez spear is quite special, if that wasn't already known, it behaves like a normal spear besides its magical abilities, but it doesn't actually look like a spear most of the time. It's appearance can change depending on how the wielder uses it. Right now, as Chavez swung the spear towars Selenas neck, the spear looked more like a Great ax or Glaive more then anything else.
Chavez spear made contact with the girls neck, he could see blood being drawn, about halfway through her neck, Chavez saw the girl smile, a wide disgusting, evil smile.
She grabbed the spear with her bare hand that wasn't holding her sword and suddenly the spear shot away from her neck, leaving Chavez hands.
She then reached out and touched Chavez with the free hand, Chavez was thrown dozens of feet backwards landing on his back and skidding across the concrete for a couple seconds.
The girls neck reformed itself, not even leaving a scar. It was simply like it had never been cut. Chavez came to a conclusion, she either couldn't die, or Chavez didn't cut deep enough.
He also decided one more thing, he was going to keep trying until he found out.
