“If you are telling the truth, why didn’t you tell your father?” Arion inquired.
Phinn started getting more defensive. “Because now is our time. I knew they weren’t going to let us go the moment you told me what happened. Look at how our last shift went!” he yelled in her face.
“That still does not answer my question.”
Phinn lowered his voice back down. “It’s our time. We can show them that we can take care of it ourselves. Nothing has happened in a long time that is worth being put into those history books we are taught, but this could be it. This could be a historical feat for our pack.” Excitement was coursing through him the more he thought about it.
He saw Reni’s hesitation immediately, but his speech wasn’t for her, it was for Arion. Phinn knew that Arion wanted glory, to show she was worthy to be called a warrior. The push Phinn had on his side, as well, was that it was her sister who was at stake. He knew she would agree.
