Chapter 43: An Unhappy Decision

Phinn could hardly believe his luck.

Malaki had not only caught Arion with Owen but had traced him back to the rogue through scent alone when the butcher’s boy had finally shifted.

He was still debating on whether this was just as good as himself being the one to destroy Owen when Arion’s pleas brought him back.

“Father, listen, let him explain,” she cried, putting herself in front of Owen as Malaki slowly approached him.

“Arion,” Malaki growled, proceeding towards the outsider.

Malaki suddenly stiffened, lifting his nose, sniffing.

He spun around on his heel and faced Owen’s friend.

“And William?!” Malaki barked, turning to face Arion.

“Father,” Arion began.

Malaki held up his hand, instantly silencing her.

William offered a weak smile.

“Hello, Sir.”

Malaki said nothing, but Phinn could see the anger rising.

“Sir, please,” came Reni, putting herself in front of William.
