Chapter 19: Helemoira

Geien stared at me trying to process the meaning behind what he was attempting to say and I was still trying to come to terms with the fact that he was here in the first place. He was a God, my God.

The Gods did not descend onto this plane. Or at least, they hadn't for generations. There were stories of course of God's coming down to perform divine acts or miracles, and then there were stories of Rhunia riding down in her golden chariot during times of war.

But, Gods did not visit mortals, they did not rescue them and kiss them.

"What troubles you?" He dropped my hand and I swore I saw a flicker of pain across his face as he did so.

I shook my head, trying to clear the cobwebs from it. "I just don't know why you saved me, I don't understand why me. You say you were here with me but do you mean that you..." I couldn't find the words, and even if I could I wasn't sure I knew how to say them. It wasn't possible that he meant he liked me, loved me. I was just his Priestess.
