Chapter 43: Helemoira

I did not know what I was expecting to see as the eerie torch lights came to life before me, but what I beheld was everything horrible one might imagine as the domain for the God of Death. The torches let off no heat that I could feel and their lack of color made them almost seem void. It was as if darkness was illuminating darkness.

The walls that slowly came into view were covered with all manner of skulls, ranging from what appeared to be human, fae, and so many creatures that I could not comprehend their numbers. The floors seemed to be made of more of the void material and I felt my stomach do a flip as I took my first step onto it. It reflected none of the strange light and almost seemed to move as it took my weight.
