Geun.
"You're either incredibly smart or impeccably dumb." A voice greeted me as I walked up to the two-seater table at the outdoor café just outside of Greenville.
"We both know the right answer to that Ken." I sat down across from Ken Halifax.
The father of the man who had birthed the woman who had possessed most of my thoughts over the last eight hours placed his coffee cup down in front of me on the metal café table. The mere volumes of control it took for me to not end this man right here on this street corner were extraordinary.
"I don't know where she is, Kal. Assuming that's why you're here." Ken's southern voice ground against my nerves as he sized me up.
"I'm not here looking for Beatrice," I said, matching his posture.
"Then why are you here?" Ken was naturally curious, he leaned back in the too small café chair, his portly body spilling over the sides.
"I need something that you might be able to help me with." I teased him, waiting for him to bite the hook.
