"Can you please state your name for the court." The lawyer who represented the state of New York asked.

"Beatrice Evangaline Halifax," I replied, my voice surprisingly sounding stronger than I felt, my knees hadn't stopped shaking since I entered the courtroom podium.

I hadn't spotted Geun or my brother since arriving at the courthouse early this morning to meet with the lawyers prior to my testimony. But I did see Garrison hanging out in the shadows. The country boy hadn't changed at all since I last saw him. He stuck his head out of the shadows of the corner he was hiding in to wink at me and tip his head as I passed by. Knowing he was here gave me a fraction of calm. A familiar face in a sea of strangers.

"Miss. Halifax can you tell the court your relation to the defendant?" The female lawyer asked me, her blonde hair was pulled back to a firm ponytail that rested at the base of her neck, her red lipstick flawlessly applied

"He's my father."
