Chapter 45

After his talk with Einstein-and despite reliving that one glorious moment when Fiona came for him-Solus tried his best to return to his sterile ways. He kept his contact with Fiona to the bare minimum despite the hurt he caught in her eyes-and the ache in his body. He ignored his heart which stuttered in her presence and his arms which twitched with a need to hold her. He tried and tried to pretend she was just another cyborg. Nobody important. Not someone he needed in his life.

He'd never been more miserable.

Or pathetic.
