Switch-Up

Shivers ran up his spine when he heard the boy talk again "you can hand it over now or we can do this later" he obediently handed over the tickets purchased from the school beauty although ash didn't care for such things. Ash bought the ticket knowing that if he didn't it would end up with him being beaten up somewhere.

Ash Valentine is a very beautiful boy, he's probably the most beautiful at the school however, he had always been bullied for it so h decided to hide his face. What you see when you look at him now is a short slender figure with thick glasses and long bangs.

The glasses belonged to his grandfather who had died a few years prior along with his grandmother. Ash is all alone. The rest of the day went by without any of the usual incidents, this was concerning to Ash, and quiet was unnerving in this scenario.

That night Ash was going back to his grandparent's apartment and he had found a picture of his grandparents with surfing boards and Ash read what was on the back "Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game".

Ash decided to sit down and think about what he wanted to do for once, he had no crazy dreams, he just wanted to live a better life but as a level one student, that would be hard for him right? He needed money, more money than he had now, he knew what he had to do.

Getting rid of his glasses made him feel vulnerable in a way but he knew appearances mattered, especially at a school like his own. "I can't raise my level but I also don't have to look like a zombie all day long and maybe I can be friends with some people" he chuckled to himself.

Ash was freaking out, he hadn't taken off his glasses for quite a while actually and he had moved to a different city in the fourth grade so no one knew what he looked like at all. "I can't wait, this is my time to shine".

His hair was longer than most, I little past his shoulders he liked it that way, his grandparents told him it made him look like his parents more, although he had never seen his parents he trusted his grandparents. His hair looked shorter because he always had his hood on, it was not allowed but he did it anyways in fear of having his hair ruined, and it was not like there was a specific rule against it.

Ash kept his head down as he walked through the hallways, and finally lifted his head, everyone looked at him. Ash started blushing profusely, it was his first time getting this much attention. "...H-hi?" said ash, his eyes darted across the room, he was nervous and it was obvious to everyone. He walked to his seat and before he could sit down, someone called out to him.

"Hey kid you can not sit there" ash turned around and it was Erin. Erin never bullied ash but he also never stood up for him, he just completely ignored ash. "Erin...why wouldn't I sit here, it's my seat...?" said ash, clearly confused about why the usually detached boy, Erin, suddenly talked to him.

The class' early morning chattering was now replaced with nothing but silence. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, one of the girls stood up and said "...are you ash?" ash replied, "yes I am, why?".

The students started talking among themselves until the girl called May began to speak once again "that's impossible! you have a similar build and similar voice, but other than that, you are nothing like him" and before she could continue ash talked over her "what do you think you know about me? I don't wanna listen to someone who never made any effort to talk to me so don't act as you know me all of the sudden!"

The girl was embarrassed as she sat back down and avoided eye contact with anyone. The whole class was surprised, however, ash may have been the person most surprised by what he had just done. He whispered a simple "sorry" and he sat down quietly.

Ash was thinking about what had happened just now and was a little angry at himself for that apology but that was to be expected. He was still the same Ash and he couldn't help but apologize. He was used to apologizing for every little thing. That was a habit Ash had to drop because he decided to improve his way of life although it wouldn't change that much, he had no power to ensure that.

May stood up and walked in front of ash's desk. Ash lifted his head to look at his classmate "what?" he said. "Well do you want to have lunch with us?" said May. Ash figured that it was because he looked different, and he was right but to may's surprise ash said "no".

Ash might have gone his whole without a friend but his grandparents taught him to always be suspicious and this girl simply wanted to associate herself with him now that he looked different, he hated the idea of being used by someone who had previously ignored his existence.

May looked at ash, dismay evident on her face "Why!" ash stared at her starting to think about what she would do if he did refuse her offer, he started panicking until he felt a hand on his shoulder which caused ash to gasp a little.

He turned around and saw Erin looking at the girl, he said "Because he will be eating with me, do you have a problem with that" as he glared at the girl, she sat down quietly. The girl's actions surprised ash, he didn't know why everyone was so obedient towards him, although he rarely talked, when he did talk, nobody dare disobey him.

You could see the curiosity in ashes' big light green eyes, which was adorable, but Erin just stared at the boy wondering why he had suddenly decided to change the way he looked. Ash started blushing as soon as he realized what Erin had said: "wait what? I am ? but why, do you need me to do something for you?".

Erin looked at the short boy in front of him and said "you are having lunch with me, and I won't accept no for an answer" ash slightly pouted and said " well I don't have to say yes, I could just not show up" ash mumbled, only Erin heard him, but he pretended he didn't. "what was that?" said Erin, "nothing!" said ash, as he removed Erin's hand from his shoulder.
