Suspicious

They all arrived at white Fang's base after a few minutes.

The rain had already stopped completely by the time they arrived and what was left was the cold wind left by the rain and the smell of rotten flesh that permeated the place.

They had spent a few more minutes than expected on their way to the base because they ran into some other wondering zombies and had to quickly deal with them, even Fablo had to appreciate how effective white Fang and his group were when dealing with zombies. One reason was due to their perfect coordination, the other and most vital factor was their weapons; they were well-equipped to make the job look simple!

True to White Fang's words, their base was located at the back of the estate and the group stopped seeing zombies after crossing a few streets. Of course, they still saw some but just that they were all already dead, killed by white fang and his group.

That was to say that the only area left to be cleared was the forefront of the estate which was where Fablo's group had aimed for, coincidentally turning out to be the core area of the zombies.

The base was a large hall at the end of the estate, the place was so huge that Fablo believed it must have been a church or something else for gathering lots of people.

Pieces of Furniture could be seen placed around the space in the hall and a fireplace was burning in the middle of the hall which swayed constantly due to the wind that was entering the hall through the broken windows.

All in all, the place looked a lot better than their own base which was much smaller in size. The only difference was that this base was less guarded and didn't have many countermeasures against zombies except the doors, though they might not really need any since the people in this base could easily deal with the zombies.

But one thing seemed off to Fablo and the others when they entered the place.

White Fang had told them beforehand that these people were scarred by their past experience and might behave strangely but what Edward and the others were looking at seemed different.

Especially the women, all the women in this base looked…hopeless. Only a few men looked dispirited and hateful, one could easily tell that they were filled with hate and this hate seemed to be directed toward…white Fang and the others. How did this even make sense?

Must be the trauma that white Fang talked about, they must hate everyone because of the zombies.

Fablo could only sympathize with them.

But as for the women in the base, their stares made Edward's skin crawl. He felt a tingling sensation all over his body just from their gazes, not only him but everyone in Fablo's group felt this strange and weird sensation.

The women's hate and pain were as clear as day and there was nothing that could mask it, it was as if they utterly despised white Fang and the others to the bones but their soulless stares showed that they had long given up on finding redemption or salvation from whatever could make so many living and healthy women have eyes that were similar to those of zombies… lifeless and blank.

Was this also…part of the trauma?

However, they were not given too much time to think about as white Fang ushered them in and found a place for them to sit before getting someone to give them a change of clothes.

"Those two rooms are the bathrooms, the male bathroom is that way and the other one is the female bathroom. You guys can go wash up and change, food will be served soon" White Fang said to them before going to meet his own people, he pointed at six people and said.

"You six will keep watch tonight, take enough clothes to keep warm," White Fang said to the six of them before moving over to the fireplace where a pot of soup was being stirred by a huge man, the man and White Fang started to converse.

Meanwhile, Fablo's group split up into two. The men followed Fablo into the men's bathroom while the women followed Lia into the female bathroom.

"Boss, are they new survivors that you rescued? Are they going to join us?" The man stirring the soup asked white Fang after Fablo and his group had entered the bathrooms to change.

White Fang shook his head.

"Better use your head and don't do anything stupid, you'll be dead if you make them suspect anything. They are a group of survivors from another base and are only stranded so there's no saying if they will join us yet, but don't do anything that will make then have strange thoughts" white Fang said and his eyes suddenly turned cold as he glared at everyone in the hall, including the six who were going to be on watch for the night.

" The same goes for all of you, do anything abnormal and I'll personally end you" white Fang issued his warning to the seventy-plus people in the hall. A few people revealed lecherous grins while others revealed hateful glares but did not say anything.

" Hehehe, of course, boss, we won't do anything stupid. It will be best if they join us so we can educate them, that woman with a sword is a beauty" one of the men who had been with white Fang when they helped Lia and the others chuckled; he would probably have second thoughts if he knew what the 'Beauty' was capable of.

"Then, if they are not going to join us, why did you bring them back? I'm sure that them being stranded is not enough reason to help them, since it won't profit us in any way" the huge man asked in confusion.

White Fang stared at the man for a second before letting out a sigh.

"They are planning to reclaim the military base," he said plainly, causing everyone to gasp in shock. Even the women who were constantly staring at him with venomous eyes could not help but get shocked at his words.

They all had one thought at this point.

'They are crazy!!'
