Excuse Me Ma'am

Approximately 40,000 feet in the Air, a three-floored aircraft could be seen closely resembling a cross between a blimp and an airplane.

Such a contraption was called a Calerous, a vehicle meant to revolutionize the flying industry. It was powered by a Hydrogen type engine that gave it enough range to loop the Earth at least once.

It was used to carry passengers from one side of the world to the other, along with precious cargo in record time.

The lowest floor was where 80% of the cargo was held, while the second floor was a recreational area for passengers to enjoy. Of course, not everyone found it enjoyable to socialize with others while traveling leaving the top floor as a seating area with a similar aesthetic to a common airplane back in the day.

Not every Calerous had such a design, as it was up to the airline and the passengers to decide. If one ever asked why something that big was ever built, many would simply respond that it was to test the recreational vehicles they would hopefully be using on different planets.

With plenty of corporations sending such contraptions to space for extensive testing.

Humanity was simply at the edge of truly exploring space and was already setting up smaller colonies on other planets. People were simply trying to get a hold of the future by developing technology that would give them the edge in new worlds.

With Hydrogen being one of the lightest atoms around, many were hoping to truly minimize the weight of the materials required to take advantage of such potential. Still, there was plenty of other technology that was actively being tested and used.

In the middle of it all sat a young female, she was located in first class on the top floor of the Calerous. Her glowing purple eyes looking outside the window half her size. They carried a sense of reminiscing as she simply stared into the endless sky of the world.

Her dark black hair softly fluttered with the air conditioner softly blowing at her body to keep herself warm. She wore a dark gray business suit with a white blouse that was unbuttoned at the top. Her legs crossed and her right arm under her chin as she simply stared at the past.

A stewardess then appeared beside her and began speaking to her. After a moment, the lady tried again fearing that the woman in front of her might have not noticed. Again a moment of silence occurred, making the stewardess rather anxious.

There were only a few reasons why passengers would not respond. One is that they were busy in the virtual world of some kind, but the woman wasn't wearing a gear that gave that feeling. The other was a disability, but there was usually some means to communicate with them as there were many government programs that had finally gained enough traction to fully make the line rather invisible between those with a disability and those without.

Reaching out to touch the lady, she was almost fearful as most passengers hated being touched by people like her. Especially when it came to first class. The people up here usually carried some sort of power capable of ending her life with a simple word.

Things were worse a few years ago with the Federation being in charge, but ever since the Union came into being, many things changed. However some people were still loyal to the Federation, or they still acted as though it still existed.

Clenching her teeth she had no choice but to be prepared. Things would go much worse for her if she ended up getting mad at not receiving any service.

There were plenty of stories she had heard from people that worked here describing the blood that sometimes ran like a river.

Touching her shoulder she asked, "Excuse me Ma'am, but may I get you anything from the menu?"

Startled, the purple eyes locked onto the stewardess emitting a slight killing intent that made her blood turn cold.

'I'm dead! I'm dead! I'm dead!' Thought the stewardess to herself with sweat running down her neck.

"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't see you there." Said the lady with a kind and gentle smile.

"Oh, I see. Can I get you anything from the menu, Ma'am?" Asked the stewardess trying to act as professionally as she could despite the slight tremor in her voice.

'Fuck! I was sure she was gonna kill me here and now.'

"If you don't mind I would like a grilled cheese with extra bacon on top. Oh, and some apple juice too if you don't mind." Said the lady still smiling as though she never meant any harm.

"Would that be all ma'am?" Asked the stewardess somewhat shock that a first-class passenger was ordering such a simple meal. Had she simply been upgraded to first-class before her flight? It didn't usually happen unless they were frequent flyers for three years in a row. Maybe she was just overthinking things.

"There is, here." Said the lady as she handed her a piece of paper. Opening it, she saw a list of seats and several menu items.

"Can you deliver those items to the people I have listed down below?"

"I... I see. May I ask for your reasoning? We don't usually allow people to order for others unless they are their guardian or some other special reason." Responded the stewardess shocked at the length of the list and the different items listed on it.

"It's nothing much. I just happened to see a mother and her child get on board. Seeing the kind of situation they were in I just thought I'll land a hand. I'm not forcing you to deliver those items. I'm just asking to include them in their order under the pretext of it being a special occasion. There shouldn't be much of an issue there. They are more than welcome to refuse those gifts." Said the girl nonchalantly as though she had these things in the past.
