Chapter Ten

"Ahhh" Anna sighed as she stared at the sunrise, her excitement made her stay up all night.

She took a bath before she headed downstairs for breakfast, seeing Dylan sitting there with his usual cold expression, her heart skipped a beat.

"Good morning pretty Anna" Su Chen said as he flashed his most charming smile, Anna stared at him indifferently and nodded.

Clara was angry, digging her fingers in her palm to steady her emotions.

She had to find a way to stop this girl from going or else things might not end well Mr Lu finds out but deep down she knew that it was no longer possible

"So at what time are you guys planning to leave tomorrow? " Rose asked but soon received glares from both her mother and sister

"We will be leaving really early, Father will send his helicopter to get us" Li Chen said, his eyes subconsciously wandered over to Anna's excited face, a warm smile appeared on his face as he stared at her.

He still didn't know why he hadn't been able to get the girl out of his thoughts.

...

After the awkward breakfast, Anna went to the garden, she wanted to water the plants.

"This is the last time, I will be doing this Janet, after today my life will take another turn and I, can finally be happy"

Janet nodded, her expression turned sad as she sighed. She knew this moment would come one day but it still hurt because of how attached she had become to Anna

"Anna, I don't think I will be able to come with you"

Anna raised her brows and looked at her "Why do you say that?"

"I am not fit to train in a place like that Anna, I am physically weak and if I go there I will only be a burden and weigh you down"

Anna shook her head as she held the girl's hands

"You will never be a burden to me Janet, and you can still stay with me even though you don't do any training "

"Actually, she can't!" Dylan's voice was heard from the entrance, Anna was startled by his words and quickly asked

"Why not?, why can't she come with?"

"I have already agreed to take you with me without the General's permission, if she isn't ready to train, then we can't bring her with us"

"But...but..that doesn't make any sense"

Dylan nodded "You must feel that way but, I still haven't told or convinced the general about you yet and I am not sure...."

"Its okay Mr Dylan I don't have to go with you as long as you promise to keep Anna safe, I will be satisfied"

Janet said with a smile on her face, Anna wanted to argue but Xiao shook her head.

"You don't have to worry about me. I will be heading home after tomorrow, so whatever you are worrying about won't happen"

Anna nodded, Janet was right.

She wasn't comfortable leaving her alone in this house, so it was better if she left although.....

"Don't worry, I will call often Anna"

Janet comforted. Her eyes shining with unshed tears

Dylan only watched them in silence, he wasn't planning on telling Anna about the phone ban at base, he didn't want to ruin their moment.

"I will leave the both of you to talk" Janet suddenly said, after she left Dylan sighed, he saw the sadness in Anna's eyes

"I am sorry"

"It's okay" Anna said with a slight smile on her face

"Ok then.....so before we go to base, I will have to remind you about a few things" Dylan said as he pushed Anna's wheel chair, slowly leaving the garden.

"You won't be treated differently just because you are on this chair, you should know that" Dylan stated honestly

Anna didn't say a word and only nodded gently

"And I don't want you to put your hopes up but, I have a friend. His name is Jason and he is a very skilled doctor, when we get there I will tell him to check your legs, to see if there is a chance for you to....."

" Don't worry Dylan, I've been meeting doctors that Clara had invited for the past three years and all of the results have been thesame but in the end, it was all a lie. My whole life was a lie!"

Dylan noticed her sad expression, he didn't mean to ruin her mood, he assumed she was sad because of her legs and he actually thought she would be a bit happy.

As a man that had no idea how to comfort a girl, he resorted to the first solution that popped in his head.

"I was born disabled..." Dylan had blurted out, he hated telling this story to others but.....

"What?!" Anna said surprised, she turned to face him and stared at him from head to toe

"It is unbelievable isn't it?" Bai Sheng's lips curled up.

"The doctors said my muscles were too weak when I was born, and because of that my family.....they pushed me away. They didn't want to have anything to do with a disabled son." Dylan had a bitter smile on his face

"But general Duan, he took me in and he kept saying to me 'don't give up'.

I never gave up Anna and, I walked for the first time when I was fourteen"

Anna stared into his eyes and couldn't find any emotions, he noticed her in a daze and smiled at her.

He patted her head gently "You can do anything if you set your heart to it, I believe in you Anna"

Anna felt her eyes sting, he was definitely the first person in three years to give her this much hope, she now was certain that she would walk again.

"Thank you"

"Hmm" Dylan nodded, it was good he didn't tell her the rest of the story, she won't ever look at him thesame way again.

"Lets go inside" he said, pushing all those bad memories away.
