Chapter Thirteen

Both brothers sat in their rooms, Li Chen held his chin deep in thought while his brother hovered with a teasing smirk on his face, it was like he already knew why his brother was so deep in thought.

"Wow!" Su Chen exclaimed as he stared at his brother.

Li Chen ignored him and continued to stare at the wall, he knew his brother was up to no good, he was probably about to say some stupid shit.

Annoyed, Su Chen blocked his line of sight "Wow!" he said again waiting for his brother's answer.

Li Chen rolled his eyes, what was he up to again?

"What?" He asked coldly but it seemed to give his twin brother joy. Su Chen laughed heartily seeing as he was finally noticed.

"Wow! you actually yelled at Efya for Anna?"

Li Chen got tensed and continued to take large strides away from his brother, Su Chen easily caught up to him "Tsk, you think you can run away from the truth" Su Chen teased as he poked his brother's shoulders

"Do you.....like Anna?, I mean, everyone knows how much you pamper Efya so.....you yelled at her for the first time today because of..."

"Shut up!" Li Chen glared at his brother, as much as he would hate to admit it, Su Chen was right.

He was the person who brought Efya from her country to City S.

He had been given the responsibility to take care of her and this was really the first time had raised his voice to her. He really underestimated the feelings he had for Anna he just realized, he couldn't stand the thought of someone insulting her or hurting her feelings?

"Are you realizing it now?"

"I don't like Anna the way you think, I see her as my little sister so, you must have misunderstood!" Yes, that had to be it. He saw her as a little sister that's why....he was certain!

"Whatever....I just know that my instincts are never wrong" Su Chen bragged.

"Your instincts are always wrong brother…that's why I'm the oldest" Li Chen scoffed at his brother. He grabbed the glass of water in front of him and chugged it down, the glass was empty in seconds, Su Chen stared at his brother's actions and chuckled.

"What's getting you so worked up? I thought you didn't like her?"

"I don't!...can we not have this conversation anymore?" Li Chen sighs and massages his aching temples, he was really exhausted for some reason, he wasn't sure what these feelings were but he knew they were deep. He hasn't really sat down and had a proper conversation with Anna before but still, there was just something about her….

"Then why did you drink that water like it was your worst enemy?" Su Chen asks with a raised brow, he was enjoying his brother's reaction to his teasing.

"I was thirsty!" Li Chen groans, he stands up and walks out of the room, his brother laughing hysterically behind him.

...

"So, this will be your space, the bed close to yours is mine" Her own government bed was covered in plain white sheets, it had a bedside vanity table with a chair. The table has two drawers beneath it and the mirror had three white bulbs on the edges.

"This is your space, you can do whatever you want with it and no one will bother you" Chesa says to Anna with a warm smile on her face.

Anna nodded as she looked around, every one had their own personal spaces, wardrobes, cupboards, and there was still room left.

"Thank you sis Chesa"

Chesa shook her head "No problem I love showing you around and besides, Dyl did personally give the order, I can't say no or do it half heartedly, Dylan's really scary" Chesa chuckles and pats Anna's head, she soon thought of something and her eyes lit up

"Speaking of which....is there something between you and Dyl?

Anna's eyes widened, she was caught off guard by the question "What?"

"He was speaking so softly to you and he actually touched your shoulders, are you guys like....."

Anna's face turned red, that thought had never crossed her mind…maybe it has a few times but she knew it wasn't possible.

"No....no, no....it is not what you think!, we are just friends"

Chesa's eyes narrowed in doubt "Just friends?, are you sure?, do you see the way he looked at you?"

Chesa had known Dylan for years, he hasn't even been this nice to her and yet they were considered good friends…Dylan has never been this nice to a girl before.

Anna buried her face in her palms and hid her blush "He doesn't look at me any way...." her muffled voice said weakly. She really didn't want to get her hopes up, that Dylan would look at her differently from how he would see a sister…or a couple he pities.

Chesa shook with laughter, she now realized how stupid she was.

"That is true, the Dylan I know will never like any woman any ways, so it is kind of impossible"

Anna raised her head and looked at Chesa "Why is it impossible for Dylan to like someone?" She couldn't hide the uncertainty and anxiety in her voice…she didn't want to lose all hope yet.

"Ah!" Chesa realized she had said too much "Nothing, I am just saying things hehehe "

Chesa laughs awkwardly and scratches her chin. It was not her secret or story to tell.

KNOCK KNOCK

"Oh someone's at the door, I will go get it!" Chesa breathed a sigh of relief, she wasn't a very good liar, if Anna had probed any further she would have spilled the beans by now.

Anna noticed that the girl was nervous and decided not to probe any further besides, they weren't that close that they would be telling each other secrets.

"Hey Dyl, why are you here?"

Chesa smiled at Dylan who was standing outside the room, Dylan returned her smile while his eyes searched for Anna.

"I want to speak to Anna"

"Dylan?" Anna waved at him, a warm smile appeared on his face as he stared at her

"Come with me" He said as he turned around and walked away.

Anna followed behind him curious

"Where are we going?" she asked, of course she didn't get an answer, Dylan kept walking almost like be didn't hear her…Anna had began to wonder if Dylan was bipolar.

'uh...what's with the silence?'

Anna stared at the back of the man and just decided to follow behind silently.

They entered a brightly lit room that was completely white, it looked like a hospital....

There was a man standing in the middle of the room next to a hospital bed. The second he sighed them he smiled, his grey eyes shining brightly. The man was tall, taller than Dylan even, he was wearing a doctor's coat and he looked really good in it. Both he and Dylan shook hands, they seemed to be good friends as the doctor turned the handshake to a hug.

"Anna this is Jason, my friend"

'Jason? why does that name sound so familiar?'

"I'm Jason and I am your new physiotherapist "

ding!

Anna finally remembered, this was the friend Bai Sheng was speaking of!

"I'm Anna, its nice to meet you" Anna said with a huge smile on her face

If this guy could help her legs then it was nice to meet him anytime!

"She seems excited" Jason says with a smile.

"hmm" Bai Sheng replied half heartedly

staring at his phone, his expression soon changed the more he stared at his phone screen.

"Dylan?, why are you staring at your phone that way?" Jason stretched his neck to see whatever he was looking at.

"I have to go, I'll see you later Anna" he didn't wait for a reply before he took large strides out of the room.

"Wow, he just ignored my question, typical Dylan and his creepy bipolar self" Jason said as he glared at the door, Anna laughs realizing she wasn't the only one who thought Dylan was bipolar "Oh well, let's begin shall we?"

Anna's attention was still on the door, she wondered what could have made Dylan so nervous, she found herself getting worried.

"Don't worry about Dylan, he can handle himself" Jason said snapping the girl out of her daze.

"So....from what I heard, you're the youngest person in base"

"I am?" even Anna didn't know that, there is a total of 57 people training at the Duan base and most of them are in their early or mid twenties, the oldest person in base is actually 30years old.

"You have a lot of courage coming here though, the training here is totally ruthless!"

Anna forced a smile like she already knew, what does he mean by ruthless?

"Oh, I didn't mean to scare you or anything.....you know what forget I ever said that, lets just talk about your legs"

Jason quickly changed the topic, a few people had left the Duan base because of him and it he didn't want to scare another person away.

"How long have you been confined to a wheel chair?"

"Three years"

"And how did it happen?"

Anna hesitated, it was of course the worst day of her life. She hated that day so much, she wanted to forget it completely!.
