The Chamber of Secrets - 83

Hogwarts was under lockdown; no students were even allowed to walk through Hogwarts without a teacher accompanying them. The punishment could be very harsh, such as suspension or expulsion.

The students realized how severe the matter was, so they kept their heads down and listened to Dumbledore, who showed a fierce expression in Hogwarts for the first time.

A total of seven students were killed in that bathroom, which revealed five petrified students (saved), three confirmed girls who were mutilated, and two missing with two dead petrified girls.

Hogwarts took a tremendous hit, from being one of the best schools for students to -the most dangerous one. When the news of a basilisk running around in Hogwarts got out, many parents took their kids away, especially muggleborns who left it because it was unnecessary to learn magic in the muggle world.

Dumbledore was currently under a lot of pressure; both media and parents pressured him, leading to many students' deaths.

The school is closed for a month, and Dumbledore with Auror searches the entire school for the Basilisk.

"Found it… moving through the sewer pipes" said a red-haired man who joined the Aurors' for hunting.

"Thank you, Lord Black. I have five squads of Aurors ready to be dispatched" said the head of the Auror Department, Amelia Bones, a beautiful woman who was the ex-fiance of dead Sirius Black.

A few minutes later, Amelia started to get nervous, as she received no information on the Auror sent to the location.

Dumbledore, next to her, suggested "A Basilisk which might be more than a century old should be dangerous, Amelia… I think I should head there and check."

"Albus… they were supposed to be on guard outside the girl's bathroom… I was thinking about asking you and Lord Black to help kill that thing… I was supposed to receive a notice that they sealed up the area… but I haven't received any." Amelia said as beads of sweat appeared on her forehead, thinking worse.

Asura, hearing Amelia, replied "We should go there… Miss Bones should stay here for reinforcements."

Amelia, stubborn, headstrong, said "I will leave Mr. Moody here. I will follow you."

Dumbledore sighed. He didn't bother convincing Amelia, knowing her from years of friendship.

"You should stay here, Dora… it can be dangerous, and it is not a request" Asura replied sternly.

Nymphadora Tonks, a Trainee Auror under Madeye Moody, came as fast as she could after hearing squads of Aurors being sent to Hogwarts. She came mainly for Asura; it had been long since she had seen Asura, as she lives in Auror dorms. But she was too embarrassed and shy to tell him the reason for coming here, so she begrudgingly nodded.

Asura, Dumbledore, and Amelia made their way inside Hogwarts while the rest of the Aurors waited outside.

Amelia has been to Hogwarts for many reasons, from students doing deadly pranks to rap'e attempts from upper-level students. Fortunately, Hogwarts runes protect those incidents, so no girl was ever abused.

Coming here felt a little different this time; her heart was beating fast the entire time.

"Did you find out why the Hogwarts' enchants didn't inform you of this incident?" Amelia asked, trying to distract her mind.

Dumbledore smiled, which wasn't the same bright smile he always had.

"Want some Lemon Drops?" Dumbledore said as he handed her one lemon drop.

Amelia never took candy from Dumbledore for apparent reasons, but this time she took it and placed it in her mouth.

Amelia suddenly felt relaxed, deciding not to question what was there. Instead, she asked "So?"

"The enchantments in the girl's bathroom have been tampered… or something is blocking." Dumbledore replied.

"What do you think, Asura?" Dumbledore then asked Asura; a habit he had when they were still friends. Dumbledore, known as wise beyond his age, bent his head down after learning the extent of knowledge Asura had during their friendly debates.

"Not sure. It could be as simple as someone who was behind realizing the Basilisk tampered with it… Or some secrets were hiding in the girl's bathroom." Asura replied.

"You are right!" suddenly came a voice behind them.

Amelia, who was already nervous, brought her wand out while giving a girly yelp.

Behind them, a ghost flying in the air.

Amelia suddenly turned, embarrassed. Never in her career has she been humiliated like this. All she wanted to do right now was curse the ghost, which scared her.

Amelia, after composing herself, asked "How did you get out of that bathroom, Myrtle? Weren't you trapped in there?"

Dumbledore replied "She was never trapped… She wanted to stay in that bathroom for an unknown reason."

Moaning Myrtle, a ghost who died and haunted the girl's bathroom.

"I knew I could never fool you, professor. I wanted to find the mystery behind that sink…" Myrtle said.

Then lowering her head, she said "I-I am sorry, Professor. I found a clue to my mystery and went there, so I didn't see what happened at that time… the one time I left the bathroom, I didn't think this tragedy would happen."

Dumbledore tried to comfort "It is alright, Myrtle. We must try not to sink beneath our anguish… But battle on."

"So what mystery did you find, Miss Myrtle?" asked Asura.

Myrtle, hearing Asura's voice, lost her sad look and started twisting her body in shyness. Asura never interacted with Myrtle, so this was the first time Asura was talking to her.

"H-Hello…. Professor Black. You are pretty popular among girls." Myrtle shyly said.

Dumbledore rolled his eyes while confirming that his… former friend is pretty popular, especially among the women's staff.

Amelia nodded unconsciously but soon shook her head and asked "*Ahem*… We are in a hurry, Miss Myrtle, so can you tell us?"

Myrtle turned excited and replied "I found out there is a passage leading into a chamber… that's how far I could go. But, unfortunately, I was blocked from entering that chamber somehow."

"The Chamber of Secrets " Dumbledore mumbled with wide eyes.

Amelia, hearing Dumbledore, asked "Do you have something you want to say, Albus?"

"The Chamber of Secrets is known to be a myth, created by Salazar Slytherin before he left. The chamber was home to a beast- a basilisk. That was allegedly supposed to purge the school of all Muggle-born students. Only an heir to the Slytherin could open it. I searched the entire school, but I couldn't find a single clue, so I thought it was a mere legend." Dumbledore explained.

Amelia then asked "What is the connection between this and a case in 1943, where students were injured?"

In 1943, several students were injured, and Rubis Hagrid was expelled from Hogwarts, with his wand broken from being accused of opening the Chamber of Secrets and releasing a monster who killed Myrtle Warren, aka Moaning Myrtle.

"Yes… Hagrid was accused of opening the Chamber of Secrets and releasing the Slytherin monster… at that time. Hagrid was raising a baby acromantula in the dungeon and was publicly accused by a… dark student -Tom Marvolo Riddle. A talented but unfortunately very dark, he used his charisma and popularity with the headmaster Armando Dippet and the students which made Hagrid the victim." Dumbledore said as he closed his eyes, thinking about those dark times.

With a sigh, he continued "But I knew Hagrid was innocent. Sadly, I was neither a headmaster at that time nor did I have enough evidence to prove Hagrid's innocence."

Amelia, who had just heard this news, replied "Who is this stud-"

"OH MERLIN!" Amelia was interrupted by Myrtle's yell.

Amelia quickly walked toward the bathroom, hearing Myrtle's yell… Arriving at the scene, her keens almost gave up.

There was tons of blood everywhere, petrified bodies, mutilated bodies.

"Auror Layton!! Hang on" Amelia saw one of the bodies with a missing leg, moving a bit. She recognized the face of the person, so she quickly arrived near him.

Holding his last breath, pointing towards the sink, he said "B-Basilisk... T-The en-ntrance…. Is th-trough the sink… over ther-re."

Amelia, seeing one of the Auror dying, her hand cursed out loud "DAMN IT!"

Dumbledore went near her and placed his hand on Amelia's shoulder to comfort her.

"I-I am alright, Albus… Thank you" Amelia said, strengthening her occlumency shield.

Turning around, hiding her anger, she asked "Is the entrance Miss Myrtle?"

Myrtle floated near the sink and replied "Yes… but it was already opened at the time I went in, so I don't know how to open it again. But… I do remember Tom was able to open with a strange language."

"Parseltongue" Dumbledore mumbled out loud.

Amelia, hearing Dumbledore, angrily said "ALBUS! When we are done. I want to hear everything about this student Tom and everything you know… or I am calling Auror squads on you. I AM SERIOUS, ALBUS!"

Amelia was really frustrated hearing this news for the first time. As the Head of the Department of Auror and an old friend, she trusted Dumbledore not to hide critical information which might have saved those Aurors who died outside the bathroom.

Dumbledore nodded his head after seeing Amelia was not playing around.

⚕Open!⚕ then the sinks started moving and revealed an entrance to a dark dungeon.

Amelia looked at Asura questioningly.

Asura looked at Amelia, who was narrowing her eyes with a tiny suspension, and replied "I was born with a gift to speak to any creature… Be it a Dragon, bird, cat… or a snake."

Dumbledore nodded as he knew about Asura's gift and even saw him talking to Griffin. Of course, Hagrid, hearing about Asura's gift, was jealous that Asura could communicate with any beast.

While Amelia's suspicion went away, she harshly replied "I don't know who to believe"

Indirectly, Amelia accused Dumbledore, who was hiding information from her. Dumbledore knew that Amelia was holding a grudge for not telling her anything about the Chamber of Secrets, but also, he knew she was grieving the death of five squads of Aurors.

Walking through the newly opened entrance, they arrived at a large space with a giant statue of a person's face.

"Salazar Slytherin?" Asura questioned.

Dumbledore nodded his head, as he had seen many paintings of Salazar Slytherin, so he recognized it pretty quickly.

"So this is the reason the enchantments in the girl's bathroom were not working properly" Asura replied, seeing the whole chamber was enchanted with numerous invisible enchants.

Dumbledore's eyes twinkled suddenly; his entire vision was filled with colorful particles, and many runes with particles coming from them showed in his vision.

Asura glanced at Dumbledore's eyes and replied "A Mage Sight, eh?"

The twinkle in Dumbledore's eyes disappeared, and his vision turned back to normal.

"You have none, yet it seems you were able to see without a problem?" Dumbledore questioned Asura. He knew Asura wasn't born with Mage Sight, so he shouldn't be able to see the invisible runes.

"I am sensitive to magic." Asura replied.

Dumbledore's eyes widened; being sensitive to magic can mean many things. People who are sensitive to magic are heavily talented as their bodies are heavily saturated with magic, boosting their talent. They can easily control magic and are natural Animagus.

Dumbledore can count with his fingers who are sensitive to magic in the entire wizarding world -His Master, Grindelwald, Tom Marvolo Riddle, and finally the Merlin himself.

Unfortunately or fortunately, he was just born with Mage Sight, which made it easy for him to learn magic and see magic. His talent wasn't much compared to Voldemort or Grindelwald. But people who are sensitive to magic can develop their own mage sight with enough skill.

Sadly, Dumbledore's entire thought process is wrong if you compare it to Asura. Asura can easily see magic with his Dojutsu and became sensitive to magic because of his training in Senjutsu. So he was neither born with sensitive magic nor Mage Sight, but his body's magic saturation is abnormally high, even more, compared to Merlin.

Amelia didn't need an explanation, as she too knew about Mage Sight and people who are sensitive to magic. She is the Head of the Auror Department, so she has access to most confidential and unknown information. However, people who are sensitive to magic are almost a myth.

"Look" Amelia said as she pointed at Salazar's statue mouth; a trail of blood was leading on top of the mouth.

"It seems its nest is inside the mouth of the statue… Here, these are the tears of Fawkes. Use only if you are bitten by the Basilisk. If you are bitten, your survival chances are low, even with the tears of a phoenix." So Dumbledore wanted and informed them while giving each a vial of phoenix tears.

Asura didn't shy away from taking, as he never had a phoenix tear before; he never asked Fawkes to cry, nor was there when it cried.

Dumbledore chuckled at Asura's enthusiasm, as he knew how Asura was searching for phoenix tears for his alchemic research.

"What about you?" Amelia asked while her hands were almost shaking, holding the world's most rare, expensive, and most potent healing potion in her hand.

Dumbledore smiled and said "I wouldn't worry about that"

Amelia thought Dumbledore had one for himself, but sadly she didn't know that those were only two left, as he used many for students who were injured in the girl's bathroom.

Suddenly, their conversation stopped when they felt the ground shaking, and the mouth of the statue slowly started opening.

"Don't look in its eyes" Dumbledore gave a final warning as he took out his elder wand, ready to attack.

Amelia and Dumbledore, who were expecting the Basilisk to come out of the statue's mouth, didn't expect it when suddenly, from the side where it was filled with water, came a tail with a force that could destroy a building aiming at Amelia.

Amelia felt the world slowing down. In front of her is a large green tail heading towards her at a speed she won't be able to react to. She wanted to raise her wand, but she knew she wouldn't be able to raise the wand by the time the tails hit her.

Even if she could, what can she do? With the speed of the tail coming, her magic shield won't be able to do anything.

'I am sorry Susan' she thought, waiting for her doom.
