Mariana said her goodbyes to the seamstress.
She walked into the night, her white wedding dress glowing in the moonlight.
She peeked around a corner. She did have a dagger, a sword and a gun with her, but it still made her nervous to be in a strange city, alone at night. Mariana had to hope that she would not run into any unpleasant people.
Except that maybe she had not defined "unpleasant" clearly enough…
Daniel's strong shape loomed over her. He had caught up with her as silently as a ghost, and his arms captured her into an embrace that was a prison on its own.
She kicked and screamed, but even now she was unable to bring herself to shoot him.
