Journey back

May 8th

The day had started in the early morning. And as per usual, everyone around the house woke up to pray Fajr.

Afterward, I had nothing to do. So, while I waited for breakfast, I opened my phone and played with it. Then it was time for breakfast. After breakfast, I took a bath and we packed some more.

After a while, it was already time to depart. But before we drove off, we first visited a relative living just across the house we were at.

Upon returning from the visit, we said our goodbyes once more to other relatives. When we were done, we drove off. Headed back to our home in the capital city.

As for the road we went, it was the same way as the previous one. Through the mountains, the swamp, the fields, etc.

Before we went further up the mountain, we stopped. We stopped by a minimarket to buy some drinks and some snacks to accompany us on our journey.

But before long, on the road where only vehicles were on, I slept on my seat, with the backrest laid at an angle.

By the time I woke up, it was already time for lunch. We stopped by a restaurant that goes by the name "Banaran 9".

But in the end, my parents and my brother only ordered drinks and light snacks, and I ordered an Indonesian dish called "Sop Buntut" out of curiosity. The reason we didn't order a full meal is that we already ate in the car.

And along with the dish, I ordered a durian juice for my drink. I was intrigued by the moment I first laid my eyes on it.

Unfortunately, I didn't properly eat my soup since it was too sour for my palate. So, in the end, I offered it to my mother.

She agreed that it was to be split between us. This was decided back when we were ordering our foods and beverages. But she refused. So, I gave it to my father instead.

After we prayed and paid for our meal, we headed back into the car and drove further up the mountain.

Just before we went down the mountain, we stopped by a gas station. There, my dad filled the tank to the brim and then all of us went to the loo.

When we got down, we were greeted by green fields on the left and the swamp behind the green field to the right.

Further down the road, I saw the Willem fort once again. Upon noticing this, I said to my mom that the square thing to our left is a fort left behind by the Dutch.

Afterward, I slept for a long time. When we were on the motorway, a crisis happened when I woke up. My brother's tank was full. He needed to go to the toilet.

But he wasn't the only one holding it in. In actuality, I had already held mine in for the past two hours at that point.

This I agree with, but at the time, I decided to sleep and have the chance to wake up at a rest area. Then zoom! We went past one because we were going too fast.

So that kind of mistake would not happen the second time, my dad went slower. Which bore fruit, we were able to line up for the next rest area.

Because the line was pretty long, my mom had instructed my brother to get in the car and run to the toilet. Which I followed in pursuit.

After we all went to the toilet, we each prayed in a "Musholla". Me and my dad were the first ones that had finished our prayers.

Since me and my dad were the first ones out, we looked for dinner. After not a very long time of thinking, we went to get "CFC". Which is fried chicken.

But another crisis had arisen. My dad's payment account couldn't load. So, we had to resort to cash. But dad was short of it. Then I whipped out my emergency case that was stored in my phone case.

After we paid for our chicken, me and my dad looked for an ATM. This was because he wanted to take out money. So, he did.

When he was done taking out some money from the ATM, we left. But as we walked off, a young man had called out to us.

Apparently, dad forgot to take back his card from the machine. So, he ran out to us and gave it back. What a gentleman.

Then we four had gathered once more, with me and my dad bringing chicken. So, we took our chicken and ate it while on the motorway.

After a long and arduous journey, we were greeted by tall buildings. We were finally getting closer to home.

Then we arrived back home. Since it was night and we all needed rest, we only took some of our luggage and slept the night away.
