To train is a form of masochism?

"No, we will not. Are you a fucking moron? We are in a dungeon." Nea said. Oh right, we are in a dungeon. But should that stop us from drinking—

Splash~

Water fell on my face. That bitch carried it from the lake using her magic! "So, still wanna drink?"

"My head hurts, and my world is spinning, but at least I am sane. Let's get out of here... And Eric?"

"Yeah?"

I stood up and looked at Eric with a sidelong glance. "I'll believe you, but I'll be keeping my guard up."

"For fuck's sake, we met yesterday. Why did you ever put your guard down?" Eric shook his head.

"Well then, it's time to move," I said. We took the same formation and jumped over stepping stones, moving from Islet to Islet. Some were rocky and uneven, while others were flat and barren. The dozens of Islets branched all over the lake, slowly leading towards the other side that was hardly visible because of the sheer vastness of the water body.

After crossing 5 Islets, we finally reached the first one with Magical Beasts. Large rocks embedded in the soil formed a perimeter around the place. They were big enough to give us cover. We peeped at the Gilbons lying about in the center of the Islet. Grayish humanoid creatures with the face of a frog. Their tails frolicked in the air while their coating of fur stood on ends, a mechanism Gilbons activated during their sleep to look out for any dangers. There was one discerning feature about Gilbons, the scar on their heads.

Each Gilbon had a scar on its head that glowed with a different color. A blue glow signified that the Gilbon naturally uses water magic and is resistant to it. Similarly, a red glow Gilbon can use and is resistant to fire magic. In the end, though, they were merely Grade 3 beasts. A mob of commoners could probably defeat one as long as they sacrifice a few of their members.

"So, how do you want me to handle it?" Nea asked.

"Hmm, there are 5 of them... Ok! Here's your assignment! You are only allowed to use the type that they are resistant against!"

"Yo, what?!" Eric exclaimed. "Why would you use the magic they are resistant towards! That's crazy!"

"Eh~! But they just grade 3! Simple fodder! Anyway, Nea. That's 2 Lightning and 1 Fire, Water, and Earth-type each. Get to it."

With a smirk, Nea jumped off from the rocky covering, right in between the Gilbons.

They all jolted up from the shock of Nea's landing. She swerved her leg in a large circle and the surrounding terrain changed. Boulders and rocks of various sizes popped up from the ground, making the already rocky Islet into a complete maze as they separated the five Gilbons.

She nimbly closed in on one rock and placed her palm on it. The very next second, the rock shattered into sharp shivs and darted forward, penetrating through the hide of the Earth resistant Gilbon and poking holes through its flesh.

Before she could smile at her own accomplishment, a wave of flames rushed towards her. Nea waved her hand in a large arc in front of the flames, making a thin sheet of fire to cover herself. The Gilbon that had attacked came rushed towards Nea when a blazing arrow passed through the veneer of fire and lodged itself into the Gilbon's chest. The Gilbon was startled at how the arrow didn't hurt at all before being overcome with an odd sense of self-confidence that reflected in its cocky smirk.

Sadly, that feeling was short-lived as dozens of arrows rushed towards it in the same path as the first one, all of them hitting the same spot. The Gilbon's defense came crashing down as the downpour of attacks caused even the fire-resistant beast to burn up.

Next, Nea moved the terrain a bit more and closed her eyes. She concentrated on her magical energy for half a minute and raised her hands in the air. Silence filled the space for a second. A small white strand escaped her palm. Soon, a loud thundering sound boomed in the air and a vast amount of lightning fell directly at two spots on the Islet. The burst of lightning was so strong that I could see the melting of the ground at the spots the lightning fell.

Only one Gilbon was left. Completely intimidated, the beast looked around its surroundings before frantically diving into the lake and trying to swim away. Bad choice. Before it could even swim 10 meters away, hundreds of fishlike monsters rose from the water and swallowed it up. I guess I'll let Nea go, call this last one an environmental kill.

Finally, Nea walked over to us with a shrug and then broke into a haughty grin.

"A perfect score?" she asked.
