"Why are we in a hurry to go home?" Avana whispered to Adam, slightly worried that something might have happened.

But, of course, she did not want Kiev to hear their conversation as the boy sat quietly in the back seat of the car, busy playing with the toys Adam had bought for him in the park.

She could see they were still several minutes before they reached his house, outside the city limits. She had seen his other apartment where he stayed if he was in the city. He preferred it compared to his massive house. After all, it was at the center of the activities.

"Because I have a surprise for you," Adam whispered back, seeing her a bit anxious. "Why do you look like you have seen a ghost?" He was suddenly worried that she was in some form of trouble.

He remembered leaving her earlier as if she was having the time of her day. Did something happen while he was away? Why was she suddenly looking like something was bothering her?
