I wanted to move on

Toh didn't say anything and gradually cornered her until she was standing at the edge of the bed. His gaze met hers and he lifted her onto the bed in seconds. Hungry and passionate lips on hers, one of his hands on her breasts.

The brief contact made her flinch and yet she could almost hear him silently telling her it was okay.

The first, or is this the second time he has kissed her so deeply with no care for keeping his usual calm composure?

"Toh--" Sumire caressed his hair. "If, doing this makes the bloodlust go away. You can do as you please."

She understands, of course she does.

"I'm not a monster." Toh pulled away and sighed. "Listen, since you know about me now. I won't beat around the bush. It's true I became a psychologist with the intention to manipulate people. However, at some point I genuinely wanted to help people get better. At some point it became more than observing."

Sumire sat up and slumped her head on his back. "You don't have to explain that part. I understand, based on the way you have been treating me. You're a kind person Toh."

"Even after learning the truth, you still think I'm kind?"

Sumire paused hearing his reply. Ah, there it is again.

Perhaps this person is just like her, lonely, broken and yet doing their best to cling onto the fragments of life.

She takes a deep breath before speaking.

"I think you know already. I am not the type of person who would judge you for having a bad past. Actually, I am relieved."

"Relieved?"

"We have more in common than I thought. Originally I thought it would be strange for us to date when we are so different. So, this news actually makes me feel closer to you."

Now that she can finally see that there is more to him, she is starting to understand the reason they became close. Him being interesting and different aside, it must be because of this.

Ru often says that she is more sensitive to other people's emotions. The reason she got close to Toh, is because she could sense his pain.

She doesn't understand the logic behind it, but facing him now. She can see it, his pain, grief, hidden behind those silver eyes.

___

The girl's words surprised him, and he felt warmth in his heart. She truly is an unusual one. Since their first meeting how many times has she surprised him? The anger he felt the past three days seemed to have vanished just like that. Just hearing how she accepts him regardless of his past.

This is the first time he has ever experienced this. The first time he has experienced true acceptance.

He turned the girl around and cupped her cheeks.

"If I kiss you a lot, would you faint?"

Sumire pouted. "I'm not weak."

Toh chuckled. "I see." He traced her bottom lip with his fingers, only to notice how unusually warm she was. Frowning, Toh quickly moved his hands towards her forehead and heat immediately transmitted to his palm. "You have a fever."

"Ah." Sumire's gaze shifted to her leg.

He bent down and rolled up her skirt. Seeing the large cut which had now turned into an ugly shade of purple, his gaze dimmed.

"Why didn't you say something sooner?"

"The thing is, uh I'm-" Sumire struggled to explain. "-a hanyou."

Toh blinked, and for the first time in his life he felt fear.

She already met the requirements before, but now he is learning something that would truly confirm her identity. The woman his boss is looking for, Lucifer's other half is a hanyou female. Someone with a mixture of human blood and ancient demons. Despite the number of humans with evolved genetics, those who are hanyous are rare.

That's why he decided to take his time with this mission. However, learning that Sumire is one of those means that he will have no choice but to actively make sure she truly isn't the one.

Toh ran his fingers through his hair. "Even if you are one, that doesn't mean you are invincible." He shakes his head. "The wound is infected."

"Geh." Sumire said horrified.

He cupped her cheeks. "If your truly a hanyou, there is a way to make you heal faster."

Sumire must have understood since she looked down at the ground. Her entire face was red. Was it from the fever? Or embarrassment?

"Well? It's your choice, it will always be your choice."

From the very moment he met her. Toh has always given her a choice. Perhaps it was due to his profession. But he doesn't believe that forcing her into anything will help.

Sumire tugged on his sleeve. "Okay."

Hearing her immediate reply, Toh looked at her with wide eyes. Even though he suggested it. Based on what he knew of her so far, she isn't the type of person who would accept-

Sumire looked at him with a mix of fury and confusion at his reaction. "I-I just agreed. Why are you making that disgusted face?"

Toh shakes his head. "Don't misunderstand. It's just I am having a hard time believing that you truly understand what I said."

"N-No I get it. Aki-san told me about it before, the best way to heal wounds and get rid of sickness is to join together." Sumire said the last line so quietly.

It was his first time hearing and seeing her so meek and quiet. Normally, when he would bring up being intimate she would get embarrassed, and start calling him names. But, right now there is no trace of her usually fiery spirit.

Toh doesn't say anything and scooped the girl into his arms. Both of them are quiet as he placed her down on the bed. The unusually large bed never looked as inviting as it did then. The last time, they did this. It was on the couch downstairs, and he didn't think about whether or not she was comfortable.

Both of them were a mess, but making her comfortable was the last thing on his mind when he saw her tears. When he saw how much pain she was in, and hearing the words that escaped her lips. Why did she end up in such a terrible relationship? Why did she have to experience something like that? He was beyond livid hearing her story and understood what she wanted right then.

She wanted a release, she wanted to move on, even if it was in a physical sense. She just wanted to erase it, the pain and sorrow even for a single night. Sensing how deeply her emotions ran, he didn't hesitate in giving her what she wanted.

Now, once again they are in this situation where he has to do this with her, not because they are in love. But to erase something. Toh's gaze fell on the girl, who was looking at him and yet he saw her body trembling.

She is so foolish.
