SUMIRE
No, these people know nothing. They are simply following orders. The one behind this attack, the real mastermind must be that man. After being in this industry for a long time, she has been targeted so many times. How many times have the people she loved been used against her? So many. She is thankful that the majority of her group of friends belong to the underworld, because it simply means she only has to watch over a few.
But Sano is different. When she was dating him, she made sure to take on less jobs. So, he wouldn't get dragged into this. She wanted to gradually fade from people's minds, and it worked. Nobody attacked Sano. There were some who saw her with him and threatened to harm him but a quick glare and warning was all it took to send them away.
For him to get dragged into her mess after they broke up. Sumire laughed bitterly
Fate truly loves to mess with her.
Her thoughts break off when another person showed up. "You fool! What are you doing with your back turned to the enemy?"
"What enemy-"
"It's Ibuki! She's right there."
Sumire sighed deeply when the guy turned around and looked at her in disbelief. But quickly aims his gun at her. That ruined her plan. She was thinking of approaching the guy and casually tapping his shoulder, which would have caused him to become distressed. It's no fun when they are actually serious.
When people are serious, they tend to make more mistakes than a distressed person.
'During that time, take advantage of the situation. You may think it's cowardly, but it isn't. Remember, on the field. It's you and your opponent. Their life or your life. You can fight using rubber bullets and show mercy, that's fine. But, only on those who have never taken a life before.'
'How can you tell the difference?'
'You look them directly in the eyes, and you just know.'
A conversation she had with Yuhi flashed through her mind. Look them in the eyes her? She has been doing exactly as he says. But sometimes she fears her judgement is wrong. What if she is killing innocents, who have simply been backed into a corner into doing
'This industry is harsh, and the longer you stay. The more the lines between what is wrong and what is right become blurry. Even if you joined for a noble cause, that noble cause will disappear in a few years. Your hands will become stained with even more blood. When that happens, I want you to promise me something. Even if it's hard, remain true to yourself.'
Yuhi, it's hard. It's so hard to do that. 'Without you by my side, I have struggled to remain true to myself.' It was manageable when he was still with her. Whenever she would loose control, she would simply have to look at him. Or feel the sensation of his back pressed against hers.
These people, have killed. She doesn't have to look at the blood stains on their weapons and clothes to know that. Just by looking, like Yuhi said. She knows these people have killed countless of innocent lives. The two had her surrounded, but it didn't matter. None of these people will touch her, even if they get so close.
She fired, and fired. She didn't hesitate even when she heard their screams and pleas to stop. She kept shooting until their lifeless body fell at her feet, a pool of blood had formed around her.
She has been here for several hours, but these were the first two people she actually killed. It's wrong, this is wrong.
'Even if you get blood on your hands, I am sure you will still remain the same way.'
But these people would have harmed others, they would have hurt San without hesitating. So, why does she have to feel bad?
After the first two kills, the rest were far easier. It did that the others that came after reeked of blood, and she even bumped into several guys harassing a poor nurse. She came just in time, they had the nurse pinned down and were tearing her clothes away.
Sumire draped her cloak around her shoulders. "Have you seen Nagawa Sano?"
The nurse looked at her cautiously and Sumire knew what it looked like. She was covered in blood and she was holding a gun. Moreover since she panicked seeing that message she rushed off without grabbing her arm band.
"Y-your Ibuki-san right?"
Sumire looked at the girl surprised. "Yes but-"
"I'm Sakagaki Riho! I just started here not too long ago. Dr Nagawa has been very good to me."
At the words 'very good' Sumire exhaled deeply. For a guy who claimed to still be in love with her. He sure didn't hesitate to lay his hands on someone new after their break up. Not that she can really talk since she started dating Toh.
"How do you know about me?" Sumire asked making small talk as she tore her skirt to make a makeshift bandage on the girls bleeding arm.
"Oh! I saw the photos."
"Photos?"
"The ones on Dr Nagawa's desk. I asked him why his girlfriend never comes to visit but he has always turns quiet."
He still keeps her photos? Right, she did see that when she was last here. But, she just assumed that he put those there knowing that she would eventually visit Ru. She didn't believe that he kept those photos on his desk right after their break up.
After listening to Riho talk though, it seems like Sano never laid a hand on her. But he often spoke to her.
"The other nurses and staff members here seem really hostile when your mentioned. I guess that explains why he seeks my company, since I'm the only one who hasn't met you. Oh now that I have, I can say that your a really good person."
A good person? Sumire stared at the girl blankly. How can she say that seeing her covered in blood.
After making sure the girls injuries were patched up. Sumire stands up and removes one of her batons from her bag. She pressed it on the girls hand.
"There is a lift they still haven't taken over that leads to the back of the car park. There should be police or people wearing blue uniforms. Go to them."
She managed to send a quick message to Asuka for reinforcements before her phone died. Despite her careless action coming here alone, Sumire took one look at the ruins to assess the situation. Even if it's her, she can't handle this alone. No she can handle this by herself, but not before losing control.
