Which one? (2)

TOH

For the first few minutes, Lucifer didn't reply. But, Toh didn't keep his eyes off him. 'It must be the other him, the one who is understanding. If I made such a comment in his tyrant state, I would have blood on me already.'

"You really are a smart one." Lucifer mumbled. "You can refer to me as Lucien."

Toh blinked, surprised. "Are you a completely different person?"

Although it wouldn't be unusual for a split identity to have another name.

Lucien nodded. "Correct." He trails off and exhales deeply. "This will be a bit difficult to explain, and even after I have explained everything. You may not understand."

"Amuse me."

'I'd definitely like to hear what his explanation is.'

As the words left Lucien's mouth. Toh continued to stare at him, watching for any signs on his face, for a glimpse of the tyrant version. It was hard to believe what he was hearing. Spirit realm? A different soul entirely? If any other person heard this, they would think there is something wrong with him. However, Toh has been by this person side since childhood.

He isn't lying.

"Then if you are someone else entirely, you shouldn't want Sumire correct?"

Lucien exhales deeply. "Not exactly, it's true I desire her but only because she was supposed to be mine."

Toh frowns. "She is nobody's possession."

"I am aware of that." Lucien trails off. "I am unsure what kind of books you read. But, you must be familiar with the red thread of fate correct?"

Toh nodded.

"There should have been something like that between me and her. In another realm, in another life. She was a spiritual being, the goddess of life and I was a candidate to become the spirit King. She was supposed to be the one destined for me."

Despite the vague explanation, Toh understood what Lucif-Lucien meant by his wording.

"But, that's not what happened?" Toh prodded.

Lucien nodded. "There was someone else more suited to be with her, to become her destined half. But, because there had been a future where I could have been with her, there are remains of that bond."

A bond.

A destined half.

Sumire's fated partner.

"This person, is he someone she knows now?" Toh hesitated to ask. Because he had a feeling he already knew who it was. After all he has witnessed with his own eyes, her longing, and pull towards another guy who isn't him.

"Terashima Yuhi." Lucien said.

Ah, there it is. The final confirmation to know that he will never truly have her heart. It hurts more than he thought it would.

'No matter how close they have become with each other. I understand that there will always be someone else for her. And now hearing that she has someone fated for her-' Toh's thoughts break off seeing Lucien look at him up and down.

"What?"

"No. It's just, I sense something between you and her. Something resembling a bond."

Toh's eyes widened at those words.

"I could be wrong, but there have been multiple bonds before. It was the same in her other lifetimes."

"How many life times has she had exactly?" Toh questioned.

All of this information is overwhelming, but he wants to know more. Because it concerns her.

"This would be her eighth I believe."

Toh blinked. "She died that many times?"

"At least five were caused by Lucifer. One voluntarily, one indirectly."

Toh felt his anger grow at those words. How much more does she have to suffer?

"How did he kill her exactly?" Toh trails off. "From what your telling me, it's only the body that changes. Her soul remains the same, so all her mental scars, are not caused by things that happened only in this life but her past ones too."

Perhaps what happened between her and Lucifer in those past lives, caused the damage she is facing today.

"I cannot tell you. However, you are correct in thinking that her scars from her past lives contribute to her current mental state." Lucien trails off. "The damage that was done in the past, is irreversible. I believe the help you have been giving her has helped her, but you cannot undo something you have no knowledge of."

"Then you should tell me the details."

"I cannot."

Toh never thought he would feel as frustrated as he would now.

"What I can tell you is, that when you do learn the truth. You will understand what I mean when I say it is irreversible. There are some things you cannot cure, no matter how talented you are. Some wounds that run deep, that have pierced the soul."

"It sounds like you have experienced that." Toh mumbled.

Lucien chuckled bitterly. "Yes, the pain of having your potential other half ripped from your side before you even meet is a deep wound."

"You really care for her." Toh stated. "If you've been possessing Lucifer's body, that must mean you made memories with her too."

Lucien nodded. "She is everything, I thought she would be. No, she has far exceeded those expectations. She is special."

"But, she doesn't think that way."

"After what was done to her, it makes sense." Lucien trails off seeing his frustrated expression. "I suppose I can give you some details."

Finally.

"She has been kidnaped, raped repeatedly, and stabbed by someone she loved."

Toh froze, his face colour turned pale. While the first one isn't uncommon. She faces such danger in this life too, being a high profile member in the underworld. The last two? It can't be. But, a lot of things would make sense if that were the case.

She always seems to be afraid of something, almost like she is trying to run from someone. The way she reacts to being touched too.
