I don't want him to

It's painful realizing this now.

Now that the two of them don't have much time left together.

'I never thought it was possible for me to get attached to someone who wasn't Terashima Yuhi. I didn't think it was possible for my heart to beat for someone who isn't him.'

But, the impossible happened.

It should be a good thing. No matter how strong her feelings for Yuhi are, it would be difficult for them to be together. Even if she became an idol, Yuhi-san's status would still be too far from her reach.

'I wouldn't want to destroy everything he has worked hard for.'

Meeting Mashima Toh, actually falling in love with him should have been good. But, Toh is a member of the very organisation that is planning to destroy the world. Although Lucifer's exact motives aren't clear yet, his current actions are leading to world destruction.

"I was convinced that you knew, and you were only playing games with him."

Sumire looks at him frustrated. But, she knew she couldn't truly get angry at him. Indeed, she is the type of person who would do exactly as Jack said and toy with her enemies. It wouldn't be the first time, someone from an opposing organisation has tried to get closer to her.

"Wasn't it clear I wasn't?" Sumire snapped.

"I have to admit, I suspected something was up. But, I felt like you would have stabbed me if I spoke out of line."

She continued to glare but didn't raise her gun.

"Tell me now what you know about him."

"I tried to conduct a background search on him after I saw who your new boyfriend is. But, I couldn't find anything."

Sumire frowned. "Then, why are you suspicious of him?"

"It's just-" Jack trails off and hesitated.

Sumire decides to take her gun out again and Jack exclaimed.

"I've seen him fighting side by side with Lucifer."

At those words she froze and looked at Jack in disbelief. "Are you really only telling me this now?"

'I already thought as much when Toh showed me the video earlier. Why would Lucifer share such crucial information to a regular member?' It made no sense to her, and that's exactly why she decided to meet up with Jack. One of the reasons anyway. The main was to see if he knew what Yuhi-san was up to.

"Like I said, I was convinced that you knew who he was. But, exercising on the side of caution. I also looked into him."

"Why does he have such a squeaky clean record if he is that involved?" Sumire mumbled.

"Have you forgotten already? Terashima used to say, 'It's those with squeaky clean records that you have to be suspicious of. There is nobody out there with a perfect record.'"

Right, Yuhi-san often went after suspects that had no suspicious information on him. She hates to admit it, but every single time someone showed up with a clean history, Yuhi ended up correct.

Does that mean it's the same this time too?

If she finds Yuhi-san and ask, he will definitely be able to solve the mystery for her. But, a part of her is still refusing to learn the full truth.

Toh is a member of an opposing underworld group.

Not just a normal group but the black alice organisation.

He is her enemy.

'But, I don't want him to.'

"That doesn't necessarily mean Mashima Toh is-"

"You don't have to mince your words, I told you to just be honest." Sumire mumbled.

"I suspect that Mashima Toh is this secret vice command of the black alice organisation."

"Secret?" Sumire said, confused.

Jack nodded. "Your great leader has been doing an extremely good job, cracking down the members of the black alice organisation and creating a rooster. However, there is one name missing from that chart."

"The vice command."

"Even amongst the black alice members we have captured, there are not too many people familiar with who the vice command are. At first, I thought they were lying. But, tachibana assed them all and said they were telling the truth. I believe this mysterious vice command is the reason why Lucifer has been able to pull off many of his heists."

Didn't she also suspect that? That Lucifer must have a member in his organisation who is able to move freely. Someone with a career, and lived a normal life. Not a regular career, but is in a position where he is able to obtain information. 

Now that she is thinking about it, from the very start Mashima Toh fit all those requirements. He fit all those requirements, but she was just far too stubborn to admit it.

"I see, I understand."

"I know it's not my place to say this, but I think your better off asking Terashima for help on this. Your emotions aren't stable, you won't be able to think rationally. I don't think Tsueno will be able to help either, since he's also formed a connection with Mashima. And those who have seen you together, will hesitate to intervene."

She thinks of Asuka, who was suspicious from the start, and even when her friend found out the truth, she held herself back.

"What Yuhi-san is doing right now-"

"He's doing it for you. He plans to destroy everything in his path. He isn't even thinking clearly anymore."

"So, he's not investigating these places he's burning down?" Sumire guessed.

Jack nodded. "It's a bloodbath. He's just going over, each suspicious looking place and burning it with his flames. He's destroyed so many areas in star town in just the span of a week."

"Wait, Yuhi-san has been here for a week already?"

"It looks like it, I wasn't sure at first. But, I overheard the police mentioning there have been a lot of cases of buildings or places catching on fire. The only one who could do something like that is Terashima."

"If the police have noticed, they must have caught on that it's an evolved human. Otherwise the news would have been released already."
