No Matter How Dark or Dangerous

Gregory moved silently, his senses sharpened as they continued deeper into the estate. The air grew colder, the atmosphere thickening with a sense of foreboding. Every instinct told him they were walking into danger, but he pressed on, his hand never leaving Sicily's.

A sudden rustling noise made Gregory's head snap to the right. A shadow darted across the room—quick, almost invisible. He barely had time to react before a figure lunged out of the darkness, aiming directly for Sicily.

"Watch out!" Gregory shouted, shoving her to the side. The vampire's attack grazed her shoulder, a swift slash that left a thin line of blood trailing down her arm.

Sicily let out a sharp cry of pain, and Gregory's vision blurred with fury. The sight of her blood—the one person who mattered most to him, hurt—ignited a rage he hadn't felt in years.
