Fate and snot?

About ten minutes later, I bid farewell to the two lions and kept walking forward. I of course made sure to load my pouch with loads and loads of Alma nuts, robbing the tree clean!

I actually successfully got out of the forest but so far, I didn't see a single monster. Not even a bird!

Actually, there was nothing in there apart from the lion and her cub.

And now even those two weren't there.

Why?

Cause they were behind me.

Sigh.

"I'm leaving this whole country? The hell are you people following me for?"

"Mew!"

The mother kept quiet and only the cub answered.

Every single frigging time!

"You know I can't take you with me, right?"

"Mew!"

"You gotta be kidding me?"

"Mew!"

Sigh…

Anyway- I didn't pay them any attention.

As long as I didn't feed them or just ignored them, they weren't going to do much anyway.

Though I had to admit- despite being weak monsters- these two were beautiful.

Like exceptionally beautiful.

I guess this was why they were called royal animals?

'Is it me or does something smell odd?'

Faint glittery sounds also reverberated the air.

But so far- I saw nothing.

[Cat-2 has slain a Royal Butterfly!]

[Exp gained- 4400!]

[Drop item- royal tiara]

Lv up!

[Cat- 2 has leveled up by 3!]

'Come again?' I stared back and found the lovely cute little kitty having its mouthful of a rather colorful butterfly.

The hell did he even get that?

We were in the middle of nowhere and I for sure saw nothing like that.

"Rawr!" The mother swiped her paw and something fell on the ground. She immediately chomped it.

The roar was cute- the bite was not.

Deadly-

Another butterfly!

[Cat-1 has slain a Butterfly Commander!]

[Drop item- Eclipse spear!]

[Potion X3]

[Exp gained- 2210!]

Lv up!

[Cat-2 has leveled up!]

'Exp gets shared?' Sigh- I'd given up. 'Well, it's free…'

But this also meant my lovely two followers could at least see stuff I couldn't.

Which meant- "Alright folks! Let's hunt some butter! Flies?"

Apparently, the two cats were kind of satisfied and they didn't bother doing anything anymore. I didn't know if there were any butterflies around but- even if they were- they didn't bother attacking. And the faint glittery sounds disappeared along with that weird smell.

Wait-

I forgot one important thing.

I'd registered the kitty cat to be my familiar but what about the mother?

It's not like-

[Cat-1 had already agreed to become User's familiar the moment User saved her. She also agreed to fight for User's sake as long as User swears to protect Cat-2 in her stead.]

"…"

Even a face slap sigh wasn't helping.

'Can you like, tell me these important stuff before the very last moment?'

[No*]

Huh?

I seriously wanted to punch this damn thing!

"Mew!" Well, little kitty for some reason just stared in the distance- towards a pond?

'A pond in the middle of-'

The pattern was far too familiar.

I knew exactly what was there.

"Come on let's go rob- ahem, I mean defeat that Sahagin over there."

It wasn't really that far.

And since my two cats weren't interested in the butterflies which I couldn't see, it was best to just see how strong they were in an actual fight.

Of course, that was only because they wanted to come along with me and certainly wasn't because I was too pissed at the system for not telling me or anything.

Like totally not.

***

Screech!

Another blue Sahagin.

Basically, another chief.

Why was my luck so shit?

Just rare monsters and nothing else!

It was a small pond and judging by the looks of it, the poor thing had already secured its lunch.

Two round wolves.

"Looks like you guys aren't a good match for it. So I'll-"

Sahagins weren't that strong. So- even white lions were enough to take care of them. Sahagins chiefs however were far- far stronger and a lion wasn't good enough. Besides the damn thing had a rather sharp spear and lions would just be skewered.

At least that's what was supposed to happen but-

Of course- before I could even finish my sentence- the Sahagin chief, just screeched, fall on the ground, and rolled around.

Before dying.

Without anyone having to do a single thing.

'The hell just happened?'

[Sahagin chief has perished due to intimidation!]

[Exp gained- 450!]

'The exp from this thing is quite low though…'

Exp?

The hell was I thinking!

This thing- a rare monster got taken out from mere intimidation?

And from the lioness no less?

like what with the what with the what?

Hands shook- a bit of snot came out- as I slowly but surely pressed on the menu.

'Did you know??? Rondo!'

[…] Yeah, this damn thing probably planned everything.

"Remember Lord Brendalor, though weak- every once in a few centuries almost every monster race is blessed with divine blood and-" The words of a certain geezer flashed in my mind.

No wonder there weren't any monsters in that forest.

However-

That did beg the question-

How in the world did something- something so darn strong- got injured like that….

The snot just didn't stop, and nor did my grinning face.

'Looks like fate really is on my side.' Or perhaps the system itself was fate…
