The whitish blue orb fit perfectly in the palm of my hand, no one would believe that this small object once was a part of the god of moon Mani, no one would believe that this thing was the progenitor of our kind, that is if you weren't.... "Boy.... where did you get that thing? we've been searching for centuries.... where? where did you find it!?" Elder Michala cried, I guess it's enough to rile even her up. Everyone was involuntarily warging into their true forms, fur, ears and Claws started to pop out, their snouts potruded and fangs burst forth, I was surrounded by shades of black, white, brown and Grey..... lots of Grey.
Once there were many gods that lived in our world of Landar, but one by one they left our planet and ventured off to explore the vast universe, all left.... except 5. Mani the god of the moon, Sol the god of the sun, Fenris the wolf god and his children Hati and Skoll.
Fenris' children despised the sun and moon god and sought to devour them and steal their power, however, things did not go as planned. Sol defeated and destroyed Skoll, though wounded from their battle, they used their remaining powers to bless the humans and gave them reign over the day, ensuring their loyalty and worship, the deity fell into a thousand year slumber.
As for Mani, he defeated and devoured by Hati, the wolf god would have ascended to a new plain of existence.... had it not choked on Mani's eyeballs and died. In despair, the wolf god Fenris took the corspes of his children, together with the eyeball of Mani, he created the first of our kind, the old ones and became their first Alpha, giving them reign over the night.
"Where did you get that?" Amari asked coolly, she kept a cool expression, but I could see it, I could see it in her eyes! the power.... it was influencing her, it's taking all her willpower not to lunge and steal the orb for herself. "A gift from my mother! her final will was for this orb to be used for the sake our kind! for our FUTURE!" I yelled, I have them, I can see it, I have them!
"Amanda wanted that....?" a tiny voice said, it was Elissa, my mother's best friend, "that.... that doesn't sound like her! she knows what we'll do if we ever got it back! she... I don't believe it! where did you really get it Barker!" She demanded, 'Knows what we'll do?' hahahaha! I have them!
"Yes... I got it from her, she found it during her last journey... she found it in an ancient temple at the Furion cliffs... she wanted us to have it! to build a future with this.... even if it meant going against her wishes...." I spoke.
"You'd... have us slaughter the humans? to dye the land red with their blood? Nonsense! your mother would never allow this! her wi-" "does not matter! she gave me this thing for a reason! I would shatter her dreams and wishes a thousand times over if it meant we would be free from this hopeless situation! we need to do something or else accept annihilation!" I shouted interrupting Elissa.
".....They say the orb can manipulate Werewolves.... how do I know that if I accept your proposal, it won't just be you messing with my mind?" Amari questioned. I stepped away from my position and cross to the otherside of the room, some people try to stop me, but Amari waves them off, I stop just in front of her.
"..."
"..."
We stare into each other's eyes unblinking, finally get on my knees and present the orb to her, "..... what game are you playing here?" she asked dubious of my actions, ".....My loyalty is to my clan.... my pack and my Alpha! Please! I beg of you! let us build a future worth living in, Alpha Amari!" I cried. She stared at me, her face was a mask, she showed no emotion.... but her eyes were a different story.
Fear, Anger, Curiosity, Arousal and most importantly.... hope! These whirlwind of emotions swirled within those Blood red eyes... she collected the orb from my arm and simply stared at it.
"..... My Alpha what is your decision?" Elder Michala asked. The hall was silent, no one said a word, no one muttered, nothing! there was nothing but deafening silence! The Great oak doors could be broken open and no one would even notice or care! I was certain of that! that's how everyone felt.
"....It's needs a fresh supply?" "My Alpha?" "The orb is powerful but it needs a fresh supply of.... Sol power to reach its full potential.... about 200000, and there just happens to be a city full of them nearby" Amari said.
I didn't understand at first, but then it hit me, slowly but surely everyone realized what she meant.... "My Alpha?" Darion asked.
Amari gave a smile, it was the sweetest, kindest smile I'd ever seen in my life, so full of innocence and love, not a trace of Malice or wickedness in it, but her next words were far from lovely "Hunters! Eat up, tomorrow we prey on the pale skins!" She bellowed.
The entire hall erupted in cheers, we drank, ate, laughed, danced and sang. We had a ball! I don't remember the last time we partied this hard, Maxie drank himself silly, in times like this I surprised how much he could be such a heavy drinker despite being 4 years younger than me.
After hours of partying, everyone gradually made their way home, Everyone but Elder Michala and Amari, I tried to get Maxie up, so we could leave but Amari stopped me.
"We need to talk" she said, as she towered over me.
