Fate Why?

The hot red sleeveless dress hugged her body tight, revealing those sexy curves. She wore a pair of black heels on her long legs. On her spotless and rounded neck was a fake gold necklace given by Zara. Priyanka came out of the room, feeling too shy to show her face to Kamala.

Her mother stood up as she saw the beauty that graced her presence in the room. There were no words to describe her daughter "make no one cast an evil eye on you, my child."

She kissed her cheeks, carefully. Tears rolled down as she watched her beautiful daughter.

"Mother, why are you crying now?" Priyanka was surprised. Kamala always expresses her emotions through tears. Now, she did not which one she was feeling.-Happiness or sadness.

"You don't know this but when you become a mother one day, you will understand this, my dear Priyanka."

"Oh...mine. come here Mrs. Kapoor" She hugged and wiped the tears off her face. "I will meet up with the doctor. He must be waiting for me at the dancing house."

"I wish he could have come and picked you up at home," Kamala said.

"No, mother. I have to see Aunt srita this evening" She told her. "I'm leaving now, take care of yourself and Krishna."

"Bye..."

Together with Zara, she went out of the house. When they reached the entrance of the slums, Zara went home while she took a tricycle to the dancing house.

Priyanka was nervous. This was the first time of going on a real date. Atharva was as fake as his date. Nothing good came out of it except for troubles. If she knew he was a thug, she would have stayed away from him.

She hope it was not going to ruin her relationship with Mr. Karan.

A soft chuckle escaped her lips as she thought of the way it sounded. Everyone called him doctor Karan, she was so used to it, that it was odd calling him, Mr. Karan.

Priyanka noticed that each time they meet, his character changed. It seemed it was switching places. But he once told her when they met at the dancing house that his mood changes most of the time, depending on how his day goes.

She began to think of him as her boyfriend. How will the world react if they knew that she was seeing someone from high society? It was a privilege to get married into a rich family if you were born in the slums. Some of them were sold but there has never been a case of any getting married because of love.

Will she break the history and become a legend?

Of course, she will. Priyanka thought of it as a good opportunity to leave the life of poverty. Now that Atharva was back in trouble, this will also be a means to escape. He was not the right man for her.

When she started working at the dancing house at the age of fifteen, many men wanted to buy her off. Some were already married with children. Priyanka recall how many times, she had rejected their offer.

She wanted to marry a prince charming who would love and accept her background. Someone was not going to mock her family or look down on them because they were poor.

"Ma, we are at your destination" The driver startled her. The passengers gaped at her like she had lost her mind.

"Pardon me" She paid him and came down from the tricycle.

Priyanka smiled at passersby and stared at her. She knew that this night was going to be the best night of her life. She could feel it...

She stepped into the dancing hall. In her hand, were nylon and a purse. Miss Srita wanted to use one of her leg chains and seemed them make exceptional sounds. They were lovely but who was the mysterious man that gave them to her?

The dim lights in the room make it difficult for her to locate Miss Srita. Fortunately, Kamala gave her the phone to bring along, in Incase she wanted to communicate with Doctor Karan.

Priyanka brought out the cell phone and dialed her teacher's line. A cold hand touched her shoulders. She shivered and turned around. "Tara?"

"You look very beautiful, Priyanka" She admired openly.

"Thank you," Priyanka said, tucking the strands of hair that kept coming back. She begged Zara to make a ponytail for her, what was the need to leave butterflies strands again? They were making her uncomfortable.

"Miss Srita asked me to collect the leg chains," Tara told her.

She handed it over to her and went outside of the building. Karan had not called her up to this minute. Her eyes darted back and forth in frustration as she noticed that no figure resembles his.

"Let me call him," She mumbled, dialing his contact. It rang for some seconds, it hang up. He was not answering his phone at the last minute.

Priyanka did not believe it. With trembling hands, she managed to type a message for him. If he was too busy to answer her call, the message will solve the situation.

"I'm waiting for you, Karan. Tell me if you are busy with work" she pressed the sent bottom before kissing the phone.

After twenty minutes of waiting, he did not reply or return her calls. Her heart began to race faster than usual. She blinked her lashes thousand times to hold back the tears that kept coming, but it didn't help. They tickled her cheeks, rolling to her chin.

"You played on me again, fate" Priyanka wept aloud, strolling down the street that led to the slums.

She wondered why Karan made a fool out of her. Why did he fix a date if he was not going to show up? The makeup, dress, and the time, they spend to impress were wasted.

She cursed herself for saying yes to him. He did not deserve her time or company.

With an absent mind, the heartbroken lady walked down the street, looking for a tricycle when a car light hit her face. It almost blinded her.

Priyanka was angry. The driver of the car must have been blind not to control those cheap lights of his car. She walked and passed it with her hand clenched on her thigh.

"Priyanka?" A familiar voice called her name. Her pulse stopped. She did not believe it. Quickly, she went back to take a second look at the man, who called her.
