Chapter 21: Final phase begins part-2 (Updated version)

Jason then takes his fighting stance and channels his mana through his weapons.

Boom!

With a loud bang, both his weapons were surrounded by fire, but this time the intensity was more than four times higher than before.

"I did something to your weapons that will help you in your fight, but don't use them for more than 10 minutes at once, or your weapons will start to get damaged, as they are not strong enough to handle the heat," Rotarr said.

"How did you do that?" Jason asked.

"That's a secret," Rotarr said without showing even the slightest expression.

Jason then tries to use the slashing technique to see if he can do it again, but he is disappointed with the results.

When he uses it, a slash is generated, but it is so weak that after travelling for two meters, it disappears.

"Jason, come here for a sec," Rotarr said to Jason.

Jason then went towards Rotarr, but without any previous warning, Rotarr suddenly used a spell on Jason that caught him completely off-guard. Even after a few seconds, nothing happened to him.

"What have you done to me?" Jason asked somewhat angrily, as he didn't like it when someone did something to him without getting his permission. It was even worse when the person was an enemy of his a few moments ago.

"Before that, try using the slash again," Rotarr said.

Jason didn't say anything further. He understood from Rotarr's words that the spell must have been something that would help him.

Jason then takes his fighting stance and uses his slash attack, aiming at the tree 10 meters away from him. But the result was beyond his expectations.

This time, not only was the attack powerful, but the speed of it was also much more powerful. Within a second, the attack not only hit the tree but also hit three more trees at the same distance as the first tree.

The most amazing thing about the attack was that it completely destroyed all four trees into pieces. Viewing this, Jason's eyes started to twinkle, and he used the attack a few more times, and all the results were the same as the first one.

He did all that without using any of his art to boost his power.

Jason is lost in his mind, thinking about the damage it will cause if he uses the arts to boost his power. But he doesn't let himself be arrogant.

He knows that power comes with side effects and that it will not always be active.

After practising and getting used to his power for a few minutes, Jason went towards Rotarr.

"So, how do you feel?" Rotarr asked.

"I feel powerful, even more than when I used my Pyro infernal arts. But I know this didn't come without any side effects, so what is it?" Jason answered truthfully about what he felt without hiding anything.

"It's good that you don't get arrogant about the side effects. You don't have to worry about that; it didn't have any side effects, and the current power you have is almost at the level of early rank 10 that you guys used on your Planet," Rotarr said.

"What the holy %$^*," Jason said loudly, as he isn't able to digest the information he hears right now.

"Calm down, Jason, calm down. It's not the moment to behave like this," Jason said in his mind as he reminds himself that his entire race's future is in his hands.

"So, you are telling me that I hold the same power as an early rank 10 and without any side effects? How the hell is this possible?" Jason asked, as this was the moment that made everything he had learned until now feel like a lie to him. He had never heard of a spell that could increase his power level this much without any side effects.

"Did you just think that I would let you fight that monster with just your strength?" Rotarr asked.

Hearing this, Jason nodded, realizing that his previous thoughts had been naive.

Rotarr started laughing loudly. "Hahahaha! Seriously, how did you even summon the courage to do that? I had to give a win for this."

Jason made a weird face, knowing that his previous plan had been suicidal. However, he didn't feel like he had a choice.

"Now, let's come to the point, Jason. You didn't even know a single thing, and if I compare your knowledge, it's as if there are an infinite number of universes made of sand, and you don't even have a single grain of it."

"If you want a suggestion from me, then I think you are a blessed person who holds the curse to acquire knowledge, and I suggest you never lose this desire of yours."

"As it will take you to things that you never ever had imagined, even if you had an infinite number of lives. And if I were you, I would never let go of the chance that you have now and will do anything to complete the trial."

Rotarr's words resonated with Jason, and he bowed down to show his respect towards Rotarr for enlightening him and giving him this opportunity and information, even if it was Rotarr's job to do so.

"I think our time is up, so before that, let me give you this last piece of information," Rotarr said.

"... .... Only use it as a last resort. You have to remember that," Rotarr warned.

"Thanks for the help," Jason said, again showing his sincere gratitude towards Rotarr.

"Now, get ready. You will be teleported to some random place in the cave from where you can find your way back here. I hope you will complete the trial," Rotarr said.

"Will we ever meet again?" Jason asked before he got teleported.

"Maybe. Who knows?" were Rotarr's last words to Jason before a bright light enveloped him, and everything went black.

When Jason could finally see again, he found himself lying on the floor, wearing all his gear and weapons that he didn't have with him during the trial.

Jason stood up, and the first thing he did was use his weapon to perform a slash attack. After he successfully executed the move, he breathed a sigh of relief, realizing that what he experienced was not just a dream.

He then tried using his radio to locate his friends, but it was not getting any signal. "I have to find them on my own. What a pain in the ass," Jason muttered.
