Chapter 58: Worse than Asuras?

"If he somehow succeeds on his mission the balance of the cosmos would be thrown into disarray, for unlike the 'Devas,' his insatiable greed would drive him to unrestrained actions."

"Consider this: if a 'Deva' possessed something and someone asked for it with pure devotion and faith, the 'Deva' would willingly part with it, without a moment's hesitation or expectation of anything in return."

"As for beings like ourselves, being power than gods and gods, we too are inclined to offer our possessions when approached with genuine devotion and faith. However, it is customary for us to request a reciprocal favour in return."

"The nature of this favour may vary, spanning from trivial to substantial, yet we never demand something that surpasses the value of the requested item or favour.

"As for the Asuras, their nature dictates that if one were to beseech them with pure devotion and unwavering faith, they would only consider granting the request if the value of what they received in return exceeded a thousandfold of what they would relinquish. Yet, even under such circumstances, there are instances when they still refuse to yield their possessions."

"However, in the case of this being, fuelled by his innate disposition, he not only rejects any request made with genuine devotion and unwavering faith, but even if offered something of significantly higher value, millions of times greater than the item sought, he remains resolute in withholding his assistance."

"Moreover, his covetous nature compels him to seize everything possessed by the supplicant, even if he has no intention of ever utilizing those possessions throughout his existence."

"While it is not uncommon for lower-level beings to possess such self-centred tendencies, when a being of such immense power exhibits such catastrophic disposition, the very fabric of the cosmos is at stake."

"Should he succeed in his ominous mission, the delicate balance would be shattered, compelling the intervention of the 'Devas'—an outcome we are resolutely determined to forestall."

"If a 'Deva' is compelled to take action, it is a clear indication that an even graver calamity has already befallen."

"Therefore, we have resolved to eliminate him before he can achieve true immortality, even if subsequent discoveries indicate that such a feat is unattainable. We are unwilling to risk the cataclysmic consequences of our inaction."

"Our concern regarding his acquisition of immortality stems from the fact that the methods employed by the 'Devas' during their encounter, which were subsequently replicated by others, are gradually losing their effectiveness."

"These methods, which were once capable of killing him, now seem to have little impact on his body. The fundamental nature of the immortal essence suggests that while it grants immortality, it remains subject to the rules set forth by its creator, making it potentially vulnerable to these methods always and once the rules were set they can never be changed."

"However, as the effectiveness of these known methods diminishes, it is imperative that we eliminate him before he becomes impervious to them entirely."

"Although there is a possibility that alternative methods may still prove successful as we unlike the Devas aren't aware of such methods, we cannot afford to gamble on such a momentous issue and won't risk the future just on assumption"

"Therefore, we devised a comprehensive strategy, enlisting the aid of fellow deities who were aligned with our cause. Although his power level did not match our own yet, he was shielded by the formidable asuras."

"Recognizing the magnitude of the task at hand, we understood that only through a unified force could we significantly increase our chances of successfully eliminating him."

"Once our plan was meticulously crafted, we bided our time until the fateful day arrived. With strategic precision, we launched a concerted attack, aiming to vanquish him."

"Despite the formidable protection of the asuras guarding him, we employed specialized artifacts that temporarily neutralized their presence."

"Assailing him when he was vulnerable and significantly weaker than us, our initial assaults proved futile, confirming that he had somehow started to overcome his previous weakness."

"This revelation ignited a burning determination within us, fueling our attacks to grow increasingly potent. Powerless to defend himself against our relentless barrage, his wounds multiplied, inching him ever closer to his demise with each passing second."

"Time was not on our side, for the artifacts restraining the asuras would only hold them at bay for a limited duration."

"As tension mounted, a sudden moment transpired. Rather than succumbing to despair, he erupted into maniacal laughter, as if we were the unwitting fools closing in on our own demise."

"That laughter, etched in my memory, still resonates as though it occurred yesterday. In that instant, we mistakenly believed that his impending death had driven him to madness. Little did we know the depths of our error."

"From that point onward, I cannot divulge the events that unfolded, as they remain shrouded in secrecy. Perhaps, when you have amassed greater strength and understanding, you will unearth those answers on your own. If, by that time, the answers elude you, I shall disclose them."

"Though I cannot recount the entirety of what transpired thereafter, I can reveal that he emerged from that place alive, while I perished."

"However, as I mentioned before, we cannot truly die until every being in the cosmos forgets our true name, bestowed upon us by the 'Devas.' Consequently, I was reborn after a time, though the process was not as instantaneous as blinking from one existence to another. The duration ranged from mere moments to countless millennia."

"Fortunate for me, the transition to my new incarnation occurred relatively swiftly, spanning thousands of years."

"Nevertheless, upon my rebirth, I found myself bereft of much of my former power. Following our demise, we had to start anew, regaining strength from the point of our initial birth.

"Moreover, matters proved far from simple. I had to conceal myself from others, as by that time, the influence of that being had already spread, rendering me the target of a relentless bounty."

"Everyone knew that even if I perished, I would be reborn, prompting them to hunt me down upon my resurrection."

"With each subsequent death, however, the duration necessary for my rebirth grew longer, regardless of the number of beings who remembered my true name, bestowed upon me by my creator 'Deva.'".

"Hence, I existed in the shadows, stealthily recuperating my abilities, little by little. Even now, I have yet to reclaim even half of the power I possessed before my demise."

"Having provided you with this information, you may have already begun to speculate on the connection between that being and yourself. However, I understand that you are still curious about the reasons behind my narrative and its relevance to you and the thing you have awakened".

"Bear with me for a few more minutes, as all your questions will be answered in due time."
