Chapter 36 - Gabriella (2)

Piotr retrieves the paper after Mariano places it back on the table. He tells us, "It looks like you have a family meeting to hold. And it appears that it's the first time you've heard of this, so I'll be generous and give you some time to get back to me." He stands and closes his jacket, the cool facade back on his face as he looks at both of us. "Shall I see you both at Henkel's victory party?"

My brows knit in confusion. "Victory party?"

"He'll be the next mayor."

"The election hasn't even happened yet." I know it's on the 26th, next week. And only if the candidate wins the majority of votes would there be no need for a second run-off.

The grin on Piotr's face widens. "Oh, trust me. He'll win. I'll see you then. Have a good day…Morelli, Miss Gabriella."
