Chapter 66 - Mariano (2)

We eat in silence for the rest of the meal. I finish before her, so I push my plate to the side, rest my arms on the table, and enjoy watching the goddess in front of me. She smiles when she glances at me.

After a few moments of silence, she says, "Seeing as your brother is still on the run, I take it you haven't gotten your revenge yet…"

"My plan didn't work," I simply mutter; which she accepts and doesn't push me on it.

When she's done eating, her bottom lip curls inwardly between her teeth, then she gestures to the wine bottle. "I brought the wine, thinking you might like it. But I guess you can't drink, so I'll just store it and open it in one of my me-times."

Chuckling, I stand and start clearing the table, pausing only to kiss her forehead. "I'm cooking dinner, remember? Let's make it a date. A few sips won't hurt me."
