"Damon!" Echo called out. He turned to her, his eyes had already changed colour. "Revelioro." Echo's clothes changed, and she gripped her sword. "You're not going out there alone."
"Fine!" Damon turned around, and walked out of the room. Echo followed him, with Hunter. Kaia bit the insides of her cheeks, staring at the door, eventually following them.
Fighting twenty demons without proper backup was going to be tough. Echo had fought a few before, but they had magic, and she didn't. The only magical object she had was her sword, it was enchanted by the witches to help her block magic. Echo was anxious about the fight, she did have Hunter by her side, but she was still a cub, and neither of them had fought together in a proper fight before.
"Echo!" Echo heard Damon call her, snapping her out of her thoughts. They had already arrived at the front door. The demons stood outside. It was rather ironic that the only thing holding them back from a blown fight was a door, and walls.
Echo turned to Damon, "Yes!"
"Are you sure about this?" He gave her a calm look, but his eyes betrayed his expressions. It was the darkest thing Echo had ever seen. She knew that demons' eyes turned dark when they were about to unleash their powers, but Damon's eyes were different. The darkness seeped out of his eyes to the rest of his face, almost as if it was running through his veins. It was a chilling sight.
Echo nodded, lowering her gaze to her sword, "Yes!" She then glanced at the cub, who was standing beside her.
Damon nodded, and his hand went to the door knob. Echo felt her breath halt, and her heartbeat increase rapidly. She gripped the sword with both her hands, ready to fight. It was as if time itself had slowed down, she saw Damon turn the knob, and the door open. He stretched his hand out, and then got pushed back.
Echo hid behind the door. The demons had been expecting this, so the only way to fight them all would be to attack them at the door.
Echo swung her sword as the first demon walked in. The demon did not sense her, and so she was able to best him with ease. But the second demon rushed through the door, and turned into mist.
More demons came flooding in. Hunter stood beside Echo, she was putting up shields to protect Echo from magic attacks. Echo stood her ground, despite being surrounded.
The demons attacked her one after the other, and with swift movements of her sword, she kept them at bay.
Damon was infuriated. He stood up, glaring at the demons surrounding Echo. A sword materialised in his hand, it was nothing like Echo's. The sword was glowing with light. He speedily moved around behind the demons, striking the demons with his sword. The demons turned into dust instantly.
More demons kept rushing into the mansion. Kaia's count was incorrect, there were more than twenty demons out there, and she was nowhere in sight.
Damon stood beside Echo, as demons swarmed around them. They kept attacking, but there were more demons than they could attack.
Echo turned to Damon, and shot a demon who had his sword inches away from Damon's head. Damon glanced at Echo, and kept attacking.
"There's too many of them!" Echo blurted, glancing at Damon. She blocked an attack that was meant to hurt Hunter.
Damon glanced around them, moving closer to Echo. They were surrounded. "You should get out of here. We can't defeat them. If they get their hands on you… there's no saying what they'll do to you."
"Damon. I'm not leaving you."
A light flashed outside, blinding everyone. The commander arrived with Sebastian and his squad of Elite warriors.
They moved faster than anyone could imagine. Echo and Damon glanced at each other, as the demons turned into dark mist, retreating.
Sebastian stepped through the door. His steps were heavy, and his long jacket blew behind him.
"I expected you to be a much skilled warrior," Sebastian scoffed, glaring at Echo.
Echo pointed her sword at him, "You let several demons escape."
Sebastian's cold expression broke into a smirk, "Fair enough!"
Hunter walked towards the door, and peeked out. The commander stood outside, with the elites.
"Is he with us?" the commander asked, glancing at Echo.
Echo turned her gaze to Damon. Damon stared at his sword, as it slowly disappeared from his hand.
"I don't think they'll want me back after protecting their enemy," Damon glanced at Echo, and then at the commander.
"Damon!" Kaia said, descending the stairs. She rushed to Damon, hugging him.
Echo stared at them, she turned around expressionless, and stepped out of the mansion.
Sebastian glared at Damon, who hugged Kaia back, when their gaze met. He then walked out, following Echo.
The commander glared at Damon, watching him closely.
"He's a jerk!" Sebastian blurted, as he stepped beside Echo.
Echo glanced at him, "She could be his girlfriend!"
"If that's the case I'll gladly…" Sebastian glanced at Echo who raised her eyebrows staring at him. "I should not finish that sentence."
Echo smiled, as he went on to check on his squad. She exhaled. She was upset, 'Wow! I didn't think I'd be so upset seeing him hugging another girl. I mean we're not even together. What if Kaia is his girlfriend? That would explain why she seemed to hate me. I mean… I'd hate it too. Ugh! Now's not the time to think about love… I should be more focused on my mission.'
Kicking a stone, Echo walked towards Sebastian and the other warriors. Hunter followed behind her.
Sebastian turned to Echo, as his squad dispersed on his order.
"A hot chocolate will fix your mood," Sebastian smiled.
Echo smiled, looking at the ground in embarrassment. Sebastian might have come off to her as stupid and a jerk, but he was rather intelligent, and very observant.
"How'd you know that I like hot chocolate?" Echo asked, still staring at the ground.
Sebastian snickered, "I didn't. Just thought since I like it you might like it too."
Echo chuckled at his reply. He smiled, as she raised her head up to look at his face. "You're much different than I thought."
"Hmm… I could say the same."
