Damon tilted his head, he noted her tone, she was annoyed. The first thought that jumped into his mind was that she might actually be jealous… but if she was jealous that meant that she liked him. A smirk creeped on his lips.
"What's wrong with the way she hugged me?" Damon asked, ready to tease her.
Echo stared at Damon, and her gaze fell to the ground. He was right, she was just reacting for no reason she thought. After all, he was not dating her, so why would she care about who he hugged.
She raised her head to face him, "You're right, there's nothing wrong with her hugging you." She patted his hand and walked away.
Damon sighed, he had failed and very miserably. He sat on the sofa contemplating.
Echo casually walked into the bedroom. Hunter was lying on the bed, her eyes flung open at the sound of Echo's footsteps.
"I'm hungry!" Hunter blurted.
"Okay! Stay here. I'll get you something to eat," Echo replied. She proceeded to the kitchen, and took out leftover food. After heating it, she gave it to the cub, and then laid back on the bed.
'Damon's not with Kaia, but they seem close. Maybe he likes her, and that's why he defended her hug. Ugh! Why am I still thinking about this… Damon's so cute. UGH! Echo! What are you thinking? He's your brother's best friend… but that doesn't mean I can't date him…' Echo frowned, staring at the ceiling. This man was making her go crazy to the point that she couldn't stop thinking about him.
While trying to block the thoughts out, Echo fell asleep, and before she knew it, she was dreaming.
—Dream—
Echo was on a beach, the waves were crashing on the rocks around the shore. It was a calming sight, she was sunbathing. Sitting up, Echo looked at the light blue ocean, and the bubbles on the water. She stood up, and walked closer to the waves. The warm water touched her feet.
"Hey! Wanna take a dip in the water?" Damon asked, he was already in the water. He slowly waded to the shore.
Echo's heart almost stopped at the sight of him. He was shirtless, and his body was wet. His muscles were on full display, as he walked right next to her, and put his hands on her waist.
"Like what you see?" Damon asked in a husky voice, before she could reply, he kissed her.
—
Echo's eyes flung open wide. She was breathing heavily, as she almost tumbled off the bed.
"What was that?" Echo mumbled to herself, she held her head and sighed, "It's just a dream… Oh gosh! What is he doing in my dreams?"
Laying for a while on the bed, she eventually got up, and washed her face. The dream she had was still haunting her. The way Damon held her, his strong hands around her waist. The feeling was imprinted in her head. She did not know how to stop thinking about it, and when he kissed her… it was just too much for her little heart to handle.
Echo cleaned her face, and left the bedroom. Damon was cooking in the kitchen. He had an apron on and looked like a real chef.
"Hey!" Damon spoke, when he spotted Echo coming out of the room. He turned to her and smiled, "You were sound asleep, so I didn't dare disturb you."
"What's all this?" Echo asked, looking at the food he was cooking.
Damon glanced at the food, then back at Echo, "Hunter was a little hungry, so I thought I'll make her something."
"Thanks."
"For what?" Damon asked, with raised eyebrows.
Echo looked at Hunter who marched towards her with a toy in her mouth, "For looking after this little girl for me." Echo sat on the ground and ruffled the fur on Hunter's head. Hunter abruptly sat on the ground as she enjoyed the head pats.
Damon watched Echo, his heart seemed to grow more fond of her while he kept staring at her. She was just so loving and kind-hearted. It just made her more attractive, and cute. She seemed perfect in his eyes, and the way she was playing with the cub made his heart flutter. He wanted to kiss her.
He shook his head, snapping out of his thoughts, and turned to the food, 'She's so cute, I should probably tell her how I feel… even if she doesn't like me back. I wouldn't even know if she likes me or not if I don't say anything, right?'
Echo glanced at Damon as he turned back to continue cooking, she smiled to herself. 'He's so sweet. He could have just woken me up, but instead he's taking care of Hunter by himself. Maybe I was wrong about… I think he really does care. And Kaia isn't his girlfriend… maybe I should ask him if he likes someone.'
After a while of silence, Echo stood up from the ground. Hunter was exhausted, and Damon had finished cooking.
"What time is it?" Echo asked.
Damon turned to her, "Last time I checked it was six."
"Six! In the evening!???" Echo asked.
"Yes!"
Echo's shoulder's dropped as her chest rose as she inhaled, "I slept for so long?"
"Yeah!" Damon arranged the table for dinner.
"Did anyone come to meet me?"
"No!" Damon replied.
Echo nodded, "Thanks again Damon."
Damon smiled, "You don't have to say thank you for every small thing."
"Okay! Then what do you want me to do?" Echo asked.
A smirk creeped up on Damon's face. This was the perfect moment for him to make a move on her. "Kiss me!"
Echo's eyes widened, "What?" Did she hear him right? Was he really asking for a kiss? Did that mean he liked her? What was happening?
Her heart was beating so hard, she thought her ribs might crack. She stared at him frozen.
"Kiss me!" Damon repeated, walking towards her.
