Chapter 79 - He’s In The Throne Room!

A dark smoke formed around Denzel. Electricity cackled around the smoke, almost like lightning in a storm cloud.

The butler's eyes went wide, she felt her hands shake. "How is he so powerful?" she mumbled to herself. "This can't be! The only demons with so much power are..." She trembled and her words got swallowed. Swallowing hard, she turned her gaze to Echo. 'The Protector! She must have had something to do with this. She must have known who Denzel and Damon was, and used it against us,' the butler gritted her teeth.

Being well in control of his power, Denzel took a step closer to the butler, "Where is Damon?"

Echo's eyes widened and her face dazed with bewilderment. What was Denzel saying? How did he not know where Damon was? Had she understood everything wrong, or was this a trick played by the three of them to get her to side with them? Not knowing what else to do, or who to trust anymore, she slowly crawled towards the door.

Rose was too afraid to notice anything. She cowered at the far end of the cage, trembling in fear.

This was the perfect opportunity for Echo to escape. Everyone was too busy, or acting too busy to notice her.

Refusing to answer Denzel's question, the butler's eyes turned dark. She would fight to her death, before being a traitor.

Crawling to the entrance of the cage, Echo looked up and saw the two demons clash once again. This time the fight was more heated. This time they appeared to have been fighting more seriously, similar to a fight where someone would end up dead.

Turning back to glance at Rose, Echo saw the human trembling in fear, with beads of sweat dripping down her forehead. Rose seemed to have been in a trance, like she was here, but not really here. Was this the reason Damon kept her safe? Did she have a sickness?

Contemplating in her moment of hesitation, Echo crawled back into the cage. She couldn't leave Rose alone, not in that state. If something were to go wrong, and Denzel was really fighting the butler, she could get hurt which would make Damon sad. She could not even imagine being the cause for Damon's sadness. If she could save the girl, and Damon was happy, then everything would be worthwhile, even if she was against them.

"Rose!" Echo called out. She felt the pain in her stomach increased, but kept crawling towards the human.

Rose was in shock, and did not respond to Echo. She started blankly in front of her.

'What should I do? She seems to be in shock,' Echo thought to herself. She leaned forwards, and held the girl by her shoulders. "Rose! Wake up! We have to go!" She shook Rose violently, but it was of no use. The girl was too in shock to even feel Echo shaking her.

Glancing back at the demons who were fighting, she sighed. The fight was getting pretty back, and Denzel's dark smoke was starting to envelope the whole room. How was she going to get the girl out before Denzel electrifies the whole room?

The butler was hanging by a thread. She was not giving up, but knew there was no way she could win against this demon. He had a different fighting style, something that she had not seen since twenty-seven years. It finally started to make sense to her. Denzel must have been one of the heirs, but how was that possible? The only heir was Damon, and he was sought after by the Onix to keep his powers contained. Who was Denzel, and where did his powers come from?

Denzel cornered the butler to a corner, his smoke surrounded the tired butler. "Where is he? I"ll make it a painful death if you tell me now. And just so you know, when I make a promise I keep it. Always!"

Not willing to give up, the butler rushed towards Denzel. In a second she was pinned back on the wall. It happened so fast that she did not even understand what was going on. Her skin began to burn as it twisted in ways unimaginable. The sensation was all over her body. Her eyes began to bleed black blood, and her skin tightened, ripping apart from her body.

"M-M-MAKE I-I-I-IT SSSSTOPPPP!" the butler screamed out in pain.

What was happening? The dark smoke was over everything, rendering Echo and Rose blind of what was happening. Glancing back at Rose, Echo sighed. Would Denzel kill them too? Was he torturing the butler now? Should she rescue the butler? But how could she rescue the butler in her current state. She could barely stand up. How was she going to brandish a weapon against a powerful demon?

The smoke was thick, Echo could vaguely see her sword glistening each time electricity cackled between the smoke. Would she be able to get to her sword? If she was able to, maybe she could put up a fight in case Denzel decided to kill them as well. What about Rose? What if Denzel attacks Rose when she leaves? So many thoughts ran across Echo's mind. She had no idea what she should do next. She had never been in such a position where she needed to make a decision that might hurt an innocent person. Every single time she needed to make such a large decision the commander was with her. What was she going to do?

Denzel tilted his head while watching the butler's skin rip apart, "I told you what you should do to make the pain stop. This is what you chose!"

Screaming in pain, the butler did not think before speaking and blurted, "He's with the Onix. They're going to kill him. He's too powerful."

"That's not enough! Give me a proper location," Denzel replied. He stared at the butler with an icy cold glare and void of sympathy.

"He's in the throne room!" the butler replied.
