Nothing She Could Do About It

Elle's heart took a long time to stop racing after her run-in with Royce Dawson. So much had happened today that it was hard to wrap her head around.

She was actually leaving. She still had work tomorrow afternoon but there should be enough time to drop everything off at the hotel, even though she wouldn't be able to unpack until later.

She looked around the room she had lived in her entire life. There were so many memories in here. This had been her one sanctuary once the steps started controlling her life because of the lock on her door.

Her Barbie Dream House used to be in that corner. She had opened her college acceptance emails on her bed. There were scuff marks and stains on the walls from things that happened years ago. Her mom had painted the desk and, even though it was so little kiddish with its faded white paint with pink and blue flowers on it, she couldn't bear to part with it.
