That Girl Changed You

Collin didn't want to seem insensitive by bringing up the possibility of getting another cat but he knew that Elle loved animals and would ultimately be better off with one than without one. A few weeks after Spicy's death, he overheard some people at work talking about how they didn't know what to do with their uncle's cats because he had died and no one was willing to take them.

"They're a brother and sister and are eight years old. No one ever wants to adopts such old cats. I'm afraid of what will happen to them in the shelter but I can't take them because I have a dog that hates cats."

"I'll take them," Collin cut in, realizing belatedly that he shouldn't have shown he was eavesdropping so abruptly because they both looked at him in disbelief.

"Are you sure? I wouldn't want to inconvenience you."

"It's no inconvenience. My fiancée loves cats and recently lost hers. I'm sure she would want to take them."
