The Biggest Performance Of Her Life

Laney knew that, terrible as this situation was, things couldn't have gone better. Greg couldn't have helped her the way Richard did when she was desperate.

He wouldn't have loved her anyway. It was stupid to even wonder about that.

She was nothing like beautiful, bubbly Olivia. He saw her as a sister and always had. Saying anything about her feelings only would have made things awkward between them and she hadn't wanted to ruin her longest, most stable relationship.

Things were the way they were. Laney couldn't change them. She was going to be okay. She didn't need romance as much as she needed the only person she considered family to be safe and healthy.

Greg wouldn't have loved her anyway so what did it matter that she was going to be in a contract marriage? It was going to be temporary.
