I Would Literally Pay To See That

They both focused on their food for a while. Elle didn't speak up again until they were waiting for the check.

"I'm glad you're doing okay but if you ever need to talk more, you have my number. I'll be officially moved back in less than a month so it'll be easier to meet up. I'm glad everything with Richard is alright at least but I am sorry about the rest."

"It's fine," Laney reassured her. "Somehow, I do feel better after getting that all off my chest. Not telling my sister or best friends has been hard and Richard just doesn't get it, you know? As much as he tries."

"I get it better than most," Elle said as she reached across the table to squeeze her hands.

She could tell. The entire conversation, she hadn't been able to detect any judgment from the other woman. Just concern.

"And I appreciate that more than you could know. Thanks for caring, Elle. You really didn't have to since I was a total stranger. This has helped."
