She Could Have Been A Lot Worse

Lissy regarded Richard curiously. "You like things being hard?"

"Yeah. I like things that make me think."

"Hmm. We should play Monopoly tomorrow then. That's the hardest game I know. Laney always beats me so we don't play very much."

That was oddly considerate coming from a child. "Sounds good."

Richard dropped her off, making sure she made it all the way up to her apartment before leaving because it was what Laney would do, and headed home. She had fallen asleep on the couch while watching a movie. 

He paused it before turning it off and ended up moving her to her bed because she would be more comfortable there. He still had a few hours before he would be tired so he got back to working on some handover materials he had access to in his email. 

Surprisingly, he hadn't been itching to work on this as they were playing games. That had actually been a sufficient distraction. Who would have thought?
