I Don't Know What I'd Do Without You

Lucy sniffled. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to complain."

She felt bad bringing something up that reminded Preston of something painful. And after crying all over him too!

He gave her a small smile and shook his head. "Don't apologize, Luz. I'm always happy to listen. You don't have to be strong all the time."

Didn't she though? Lucy had to be strong ever since she came here. She had to act like the world hadn't ended and like everything was fine when she missed her old life more than anything.

Meeting Preston was the one good thing that came out of this disaster. But if she could turn back time and prevent her mom from going into a coma, she would do it in a heartbeat. Even if it meant she never got to meet him.

But she had. Things happened the way they happened. There were no do-overs.

Honestly, she wouldn't have been able to survive all of this without him. He was so important to her. She lost her mom but she gained him.
