Vengeance

"Ladies and gentlemen, I request your cooperation in this little endeavour of ours, I hope we can all get what we want and leave you to your merry way." Said a man who look like a stereotypical pirate, with the wooden leg, the eyepatch, and the bad teeth.

'Since when were there pirates in this period of time, I have never heard anything about that. Even if there are should they not be closer to Italy … hmm … or am I wrong here?' I had to ask myself this question. It should be known that what I know of pirates is from 'pirates of the Caribbean and 'assassins' creed: black flag'.

This time it is not my problem, as long as these men don't go too far, I will simply sit back and watch. My rule has always been to only intervene in matters that affect me personally, or the people I call my own, and in some cases, returning a favour. I am not someone who cares for much, but what I care about I will defend and fight for if need be.

"Oh, what do we have here, young man that is a rather unique weapon you have there," said one of the pirates' crew.

'Why the hell are you looking at me, when there are many fancily dressed people on this ship,' I said to myself.

"Yes, it is unique, although a bit heavy it suits me just nicely," I said to the man.

While I am being bothered by this man, the rest of the pirates got on board our vessel and started taking jewellery from the rest of the passengers. They even decided to take the goods in the cellar below deck.

"Hey what are you doing, what are we to do if you take all our merchandize?" asked one of the passengers

"He is right, what are we to do?" the rest of the passengers started clamouring.

"SHUT IT" yelled the pirate captain.

"Birds die for food, and men die for money. You had best consider if you are willing to die with your crew here if you do not give us a way to live." Said our vessel's captain, uttering words for the first time.

After he said that his crew mates pulled out their weapons, ready for what may come. The commotion distracted the ma trying to get my glaive, so I simply move all the way to the back and out of the way. Tension is getting higher as the stand-off is happening,

*Thud*

The sound of a body hitting the floor was the trigger, no one knows who hit who, but everyone on deck started fighting. You will think that these merchants are soft and weak, but you will be wrong, sailing these seas for so long has hardened them. The clash between the merchants and the pirates is the most volatile, while the vessels' crew and the pirates although they look like they are fighting hard, no of them has suffered any grievous injuries.

Some of the pirates get hit a little by the crew, drawing some blood and then fall like they are dead. One of the merchants sacrificed an arm to kill one of the pirates, another simply pushed one of the pirates off the ship while biting his face. From the looks of it, the pirates are losing, I kept moving back to avoid the fight as the merchants pushed forward.

Some of the richest merchants seemed to have more pirates attacking them, although they wore the same thing as the other merchants, the pirates seem to know who is richest. 5 of the 10 merchants died in this battle and it looked like they will be more, but the vessels' crew start giving even more of a push to the pirates.

"Retreat men, Retreat," shouted the pirate captain.

His men immediately started running back to their ship as fast as possible. They cleared out of there pretty quick, with well-organized movements. By now I already know what is going on, and I am getting very pissed off, clenching my fist so hard that my knuckles turned white, I want to kill this captain.

"Throw these trash off my vessel, we need to move quickly in case they come back. Thank you, gentlemen, for your effort, we are safe for now, please all those in need of help request and it shall be given. For those that are fine, we will be leaving post haste." Said the captain.

Seeing the pirates leaving, my anger would not be settled immediately, I walk to my room to retrieve my longbow. Arriving at the back of the ship bow in hand, I see the pirates celebrating, and the supposed dead pirates swimming back to their ship.

Aiming at the captain I fire an arrow at him, about 600 meters, I hit him dead centre in the chest. Turning to the crew of our ship that are looking at me like a ghost, I simply went back to my room.

"Move it let us leave here at once," said the captain.

The rest of the journey was uneventful, after landing, I walk out of the vessel first and disappeared into the crowd. Melos is a bubbling city, because of its location, trade and visitors are what make this place so great. People coming to buy and sell goods, those that are here as a form of respite for the rest of their journey, and those simply here to find work.

The streets are bustling with activity, oddities from the ocean and the various specialities from all over Greece. For now, none of these things means anything to me, the rage boiling in me has yet to settle.

You might think this level of anger is unwarranted, but I will tell you, in the 21st century I come from Nigeria. A country where those in power deceive and take from others when they otherwise would not have been able to, to the point where killing a family member to gain wealth actually happens frequently.

I go to the edge of the island close to the shore and sit there to clear my mind. After 3 days of meditation I see the vessel I boarded passing by. Spotting the captain, I grab my long bow and line a shot, this time over 1,500 meters if I am to guess.

I calm my breathing, feeling the wind across my body. Breathing in and lining my shot for the captain.

*Swoof*

"Let the winds be the judge of what you have done," I said in a low voice.
