"no, you can't; we have a contract, did you forget?" the mermaid said with a scoff.

Alex smiled and brought out the contract, "it clearly states that you can't hurt us, not the other way around."

The old mermaid's face turned dark, and she cursed herself for her stupidity. She had underestimated Alex and thought that he would never be able to hurt her, so she didn't say anything about him not being able to hurt her in the contract.

Now that the situation was completely reversed, the mermaid had no choice but to cooperate; she didn't even try to escape as she knew that this whole river was the territory of the fairies, and they could show up at any place, any time they wanted.

"ok, I will tell you everything, but you have to sign a contract that you will let me go,"

"you are not in a position to negotiate," said the beautiful woman.

"oh, but I am. If you want to see your precious Nikoid again, you don't have a choice but to agree to my demands."

"Emily," Alex looked at Emily, and she knew what to do next.

She pointed her finger toward the mermaid and said, "dark blast,"

A fast dark ball hit the woman in the stomach, and the next instant, she started aging at a visible rate.

Emily's dark blast didn't kill by force. It was scarier than that. When a target was hit with Emily's dark blast, the target would start aging until no life span was left.

The aging process would even continue after the target's death until it disintegrates completely.

Since the life span of the mermaids was long, one dark blast wasn't enough to kill the old mermaid, but it was enough for her to suffer the pain of getting old thousands of times faster.

"aaawwww," the mermaid screamed, "what did you do to me? stop it, stop it, I will tell you everything." But sadly, the aging didn't stop for another five seconds.

When it finally stopped, the old mermaid was even older than what she looked like when Alex and Emily first met her.

"you better talk fast, or there is more where that came from," said Alex.

"ok, ok. Nikoid is in a secret room below my lab; only I can open the door since it needs my fingerprint and eye scan…."

The beautiful woman didn't even let her finish before grabbing the mermaid out of her husband's hand and diving underwater.

The man looked at Alex and Emily with appreciation and said, "thank you for saving my babies; I don't know how to repay your kindness. If there is anything that I can do for you, don't hesitate to ask."

"can you tell me how that old, weak mermaid imprisoned a powerful creature such as you," the mermaid was indeed much stronger than Alex, but when compared to the fairies, she was weaker than a fly.

The old man sighed and said with an ashamed tone, "she told us that she had a surprise for us and asked us to enter a room, well ...."

"you can't be serious," Alex exclaimed in shock.

It was hard to believe that such powerful creatures were so dumb and were tricked like that.

"I indeed was like that. You see, when we first met her, she was running away from her race and was miserable. Apparently, she had done something that angered her race, and they wanted her life.

We took pity on her and took her in, but she never told us what was the reason that her race wanted her dead, and we didn't care. After all, what can an old lady like her do to deserve death?"

"you really are a dumb race, aren't you?" Alex said with anger, "how could you let a stranger, a fugitive at that, enter your home without even knowing her crime??"

The man looked ashamed at Alex's remark, said nothing, and only looked down.

'they really are a naïve race; as old as they may be, they all act like teenagers at the end.' Sighed Alex.

They didn't say anything else and just looked at Emily and Nimoid playing in the river as if nothing had happened.

A few minutes later, three people emerged from under the water, the old mermaid, the beautiful woman, and a lovely girl that didn't seem much older than twenty.

The man rushed to her daughter and hugged her tightly before crying like a baby, "oh, I missed you, honey. Are you alright? Did she do something bad to you??"

The man's behavior truly surprised Alex, 'he really is a teenager in the head after all,' he thought.

The girl looked annoyed by his father's behavior and pushed him away, "auh, dad, you are hurting me, get away." The girl said before looking at him with madness in her eyes, "how many times did I tell you not to trust strangers, huh? How many times did I tell you that something was not right with this b**ch. We are all here because you two didn't lesson to me." the girl pointed at her parents who were looking at their feet like children that were being scolded by their parents.

'I guess not all of them are naïve after all,' Alex thought and sighed in relief.

He didn't want to save them just for them to walk into another disaster right away.

Then the girl looked at Alex and said, "I apologize for my parents' stupidity. Thank you for saving my family from this b**ch," she stopped and punched the mermaid in the stomach before continuing, "I will make sure that they reward you handsomely."

Alex's eyes shown at the mention of rewards; he really worked hard for this quest, and although he had already received a lot of things, he still didn't get what he wanted and came here for.

"It was nothing; I did what I had to do," said Alex, looking at the girl who was clearly in charge of her family.

"no, you did a great job, so accept this from my family as a thank you." Said the girl and waved her hand.

Alex and Emily were both engulfed in a golden light, and a series of messages flashed in front of them.
