The moment Tybrus had locked eyes with Mira, the Dungeon Core, he had been transfixed. The woman in front of him was not supposed to be there; there should have been a red crystal orb floating in the center of the room.
"You have completed the dungeon, and now I am here to offer you anything that you desire," the woman had offered him, but Tybrus stuck in place, confused and in shock.
Everything that he had learned about dungeons and what other people had recorded had just been tossed out the window. Tybrus had always been interested in the Dungeons and thought that there had to be other undiscovered secrets.
This was the reason that he had become an Adventurer, along with the persistence of his best friend, Goranth. Now he had reached the core, but it had been replaced by a beautiful woman.
Not that this truly bothered Tybrus; what was offered now was more than he could have ever asked for. He had no use for fancy weapons or armor; Tybrus could just make his own with the skills he had in Smithing already.
"Sorry, I was just surprised. You are not what I had expected from my research before coming into the Dungeon," Tybrus explained, and the woman put her finger on her lip and tipped her head in confusion.
"Research? What do you want to know about Dungeons?" The woman asked Tybrus, but the young man narrowed his eyes.
"I don't want to be tricked into asking about one part of the Dungeon. I came here to learn more about all parts and certain mysteries, but I suppose this is my best chance to do it. So here is my wish, I want to learn all the secrets of the Dungeons! That will be my wish if I can have anything.
Mira, the incarnate of the Dungeon, stared blankly at the human before her. This was the first time that anyone had ever asked for this, and Mira knew she had chosen correctly, but one could never be too safe.
"My name is Mira, and I am the Dungeon Core of this Dungeon. Before I grant your wish, I would like to know the reason you wish to know about the dungeons? Do you wish to use it for your own personal gain? Or your family? What purpose will you use this information for?" Mira asked.
If she were to bestow this gift, the person would have to be dependable and trustable. The Demons had already removed part of Humanities history to prevent Humans from getting too strong.
If this information came out, the Demons would kill this man; Mira knew this forsure. Even with this power, he would be no match for the darkness that hid under Humanity's noses.
Tybrus stared at Mira as he thought, deep in thought. Mira found this amusing, but this was good. Mira would only show herself in the presence of someone that was worthy, but that didn't mean they could be trusted.
The fact that this man thought before he spoke was already beyond Mira's expectations. She had killed many Adventurers for lying to her and some for telling the truth, so this was no casual matter.
The Adventurer was trying to figure out a good answer to give Mira, but he didn't want it to sound silly. Tybrus had no idea how dangerous of a situation he was in because you could not lie to a Core.
Finally, Tybrus spoke.
"Name is Tybrus, and I love making armor and weapons, ya know? But there is something about the Dungeons that has always drawn my attention, ya know? Like, Why do some monsters seem strong, but we receive little to no Growth? Why can you sneak around some monsters, walk by others, but some refuse to let you by?"
You could have heard a pin drop in another room as Mira stared in disbelief at Tybrus. There was no denying that this man was telling the truth, but this didn't make sense.
"Are you really sure this is what you want? This will make your life much harder when you learn the truth," Mira finally spoke, trying to explain as much as she could.
"Yup, I am a decent fighter, but I think that being strong is only half the battle. If I can learn more, then I might be able to find out why these places are even here and who built them, ya know!" Tybrus said with excitement creeping into his voice.
Mira wasn't sure if she should laugh or cry here, but this was the exact type of person she had been waiting for. Every word that he had said was true, and for the first time in over two thousand years, Mira felt a small tinge of hope.
This would destroy this young man's life, and maybe even more, but this was important. Mira finally nodded, and a small smile crept on her face.
"If that is truly what you want, then I shall share the secrets of my prison with you. Before I do, I just want to say that I am sorry. No, I will teach you the hidden secrets of the Dungeon!" Mira exclaimed, raising her right palm as she walked up to Tybrus, placing it on his chest.
Tybrus wanted to grin as the hand touched his chest, but he never got a chance as he immediately clutched his head in his hands. The man wanted to scream, but it wasn't possible; there was just too much information.
Memories of a world like his own, but it was ravaged. There was a war between Gods and Demons, but the Gods had lost and now were Prisoners of the Dungeon Cores.
The monsters that constantly reappeared in the dungeons were actual humans that had been subjugated for following the Gods. Now they were forced to endure death after death, only to be reborn a short time after.
The dungeons were in this world now and had been for over two thousand years. Four hundred years ago, Humanity had revealed the Demons in this world and had come close to winning.
When the Demons were on the brink of destruction, they used something no one had ever seen before. The special Beta Artifact had sealed all knowledge the world had gained, and everything was reset to give the Demons time to recover.
Since then, humans have lost knowledge of the Dungeons and how to properly use them. Now, this was all in Tybrus's mind, but it was not what he had expected to learn.
