Before the war between the Gods and Demons, they lived in peace, and the humans revered both in turn. They offered food and built massive structures for the Divine to live in luxury.
In turn, the Divine shared their teachings and blessings with those that showed the most promise. Those that received these would go on to teach their people or fight in the labyrinths known as Dungeons.
For thousands of years, the Gods and Demons lived separately, but the humans tended to gravitate toward the Demons. This had been fine because there were always more people with the strength of arms rather than minds, but that all changed.
A male god known as Desolath started to become jealous of his brother, Demascius, the leader of the Gods. After a thousand years, the two Divine races were about to join as partners, finally uniting both races as one.
Demascius was to marry Malhina, daughter of the leader of the Demons, Bzathmjor.
