"D-Did y-you forget that? Denise asked in a shaky voice, and Yren chuckled as he helped her over to a chair.
"No, I hired that good for nothing husband of yours and his brother to do a bunch of work for me. That should help you get everything squared around," Yren said, and Denise broke down into tears.
"You didn't have to do this for us, Yren! You have always been such a good kid, but this is too much!" Denise cried, and Yren patted her back.
"This is nothing. I just have work that needs to be done, and those two are the best for the job. I have lots, but there are still people with little that work hard, so I want to help where I can," Yren said with a smile, and Denise wiped her eyes and then handed Yren the metal tin she had been carrying.
"I have had some shortbread that I knew you liked saved, so I thought I would give it to you to thank you for stopping by. Now this barely seems like anything," Denise said, smiling up at Yren, and he grinned back.
