Then We Danced

"Where do you want to go now?" Yren asked, and Mellinia smiled at him.

"Can you dance?" Mellinia asked, still in her adult form, and Yren nodded with a smile.

"I have seen it done a hundred thousand times; it can't be that hard, right?" He asked with a grin as he slid his arm around her waist.

Yren took Mellinia's red skin with a purple scaled hand into his blue one, and the two began to dance a gentle waltz.

Then they were dancing by a river south of the village about ten miles, and Yren blinked in surprise.

"Remember, I am still probably stronger than you right now, and I can even move faster, but you are not ready for that yet," Mellinia said with a gentle smile, and Yren's image of her completely changed in an instant.

He had only seen Mellina as someone that needed his protection, but she would be the one bestowing the blessing on him. Suddenly, he could feel the ages that she had walked this world alone, and it made a tear come to his eye.
