Time slowed down for Yren as Kylie flashed toward him, and they started to attack each other with deflected direct blows. Yren spun his staff around his body at blinding speeds but barely dodged one of three thrown spike-like blades.

He had no time to cast spells, but the staff was only holding her attacks back and not helping him make any head ways. Omnus switched to a long katana, and Yren went off the offensive with chopping and slashing strikes that Kylie was forced to block.

Finally, one of Yren's strikes broke Kylie's guard, and he kicked her back from himself, sending her hurtling to the ground. Yren's hand flew up to start forming a spell as he started to fall, but there was a flash from the ground.

Canceling the spell, both Yren's hands went to his blade as Kylie instantly turned on him, shining with a bright yellow light. All he could do was defend, even decreasing the katana's length to keep up with the impossibly fast barrage of attacks raining down on him.
