The Eve Of His Departure [2]

"Eh, ma is just joking with you. Right, ma?" Donghai Lin said, winking at his mother.

"Xuan Er, Chan Er, what I mean is? You can have all you want if your Gege has agreed since I bring them, especially for him. Dong Er, do as you do seem fit? They are yours." Xuan Xuan said and then she grabbed a nearby chair and occupied it.

Then she thought while reclining his back on the hair, 'Ugh, I have spent hours, cheffing all of those Steam Pork Buns. Now I am all exhausted. Well, Dang Er, I'll leave it in your excellent hands to handle the twin.'

Donghai picked two Steam Pork buns and said, giving each to them: "Here are your steam buns."

The twins wiped their snorts with their sleeves, glanced up and they began wailing even louder.

'Eh! What now? Did I make a mistake?' Donghai Lin pondered, asking himself in his head.

He then asked, "Xuan Er, Chan Er, what is wrong? Don't you like to have Steam Buns?"

"No, it's the wrong color. I only eat red ones!" Xuan Er said weeping.

"And I like only the yellow ones." Chan Er also added.

At that time, Xuan Xuan, the mother who was reclining her back on the chair sat up straight as she wondered in her head, 'Hahaha, finally. Yep, sweethearts, that is the right question you have to ask your Gege.' Actually, she came to test her son's colorblindness after hearing the rumors. First, she used the dresses with different colors to test him but failed.

Then Donghai Lin put the two white Buns in the basket and took out two, one in each hand, and gave them to the twin.

The twin happily snatched the buns from his hands and nibbled on them.

Xuan Xuan sprung up on her feet and blurted out as she burst into a peal of tinkering laughter: "Hahaha, I knew it.

Those rumors are just lies. Brilliant, it turns out to be some cock and bull stories."

"Rumors, lies?" Donghai Lin asked curiously. "What?!"

"Oopsie! It must have slipped my mind." Xuan Xuan said as she slapped her lips lightly.

Donghai Lin asked again, "Ma, what's going on here?"

Xuan Xuan took a deep breath and replied, "Anyway, you're going to hear them soon. There is no point hiding from you. Dong Er, there is a rumor about you that has already spread throughout the Xue Prefecture...."

Then she told him everything regarding the rumors. During this whole time, she saw that her son was always calm as if those rumors had nothing to do with him and she was even awed by seeing his calmness even after hearing that piece of defamation news at his early age and she thought, 'Lord Husband is right. My Dong Er is extremely intelligent despite his young age. Um, what words do I have to put him here with?… Um, right, his attitude is just like father's.'

After learning that piece of news, Donghai Lin excused himself from his mother, leaving her with the twin.

Then he went to the Patriarch's Quarter to have an audience with him.

A few minutes later, Donghai Lin was inside Patriarch Lin Ren's study room.

"Dong Er, did you need something to discuss with me?" Old Patriarch Lin Ren asked while he skimmed her long white bear with his fingers.

"Yep, grandpa! I came here right away after I heard about my rumors." Donghai Lin responded as he took a sip of the black tea and placed the cup neatly over the table.

The Old man signed, taking a long breath, and said, "Dong Er, if you are here about that, then you worry. Grandpa will do in my power to clear all of those baseless lies."

"Nope, you're wrong again, Grandpa. You don't need to do that for me. I don't really give a damn about those rumors." Donghai Lin responded and then he further added, "Actually I'm here to ask you about some questions which I believe Grandpa already had those right answers."

"Oh, okay. I'm listening." Patriarch Lin Ren said seriously after pondering for a while.

"Grandpa, from what I heard, those rumors perfectly portrayed my whole eight years of life and also which included before I was even born. Therefore, I believe the perpetrator is among us Lin's." Donghai Lin said, speaking neither too fast nor too slow and then he asked, "This question might be a bit ticklish. But I have no choice but to ask; Grandpa, give me the names?"

Patriarch Lin Ren made another long sigh and responded, "Dong Er, you're right. I have their names. But can you let them go with some lighter punishment?"

"Bahahaha." In contrast to what the Old Patriarch imagined, Donghai Lin burst into a peal of hysterical laughter and said, "Hahaha, you're overthinking Grandpa. Why would I punish them? It's the opposite. I would like to thank them instead."

"Huh! What the…..?!" This time, Patriarch Lin was at loss, gaping his mouth.

Taking that chance, Donghai Lin took out a candy stick and stuck it in his mouth, saying, "Grandpa, stop gaping. Just give me the names."

"Oh, names." Old Patriarch Lin said, "Well, they are your three Uncles; Lin Zhou, Lin Min, and Lin Jun. Your first uncle, Lin Zhou is the ringleader of this bunch. Can you forgive them just this once?"

"Hahaha, stop overthinking Grandpa, as I said before I need to give my thanks to them for their hard work…. Alright, let me excuse myself." Little Donghai Lin said. Then he cupped his hands to the old man and walked out of the room laughing heartily.

Just after he walked out of the room, Daoist Yun materialized, appearing out of thin air like a puff, sitting on the chair which was previously occupied by little Donghai Lin.

"Brother Yun, what's going on with this kid? Now, I'm all confused." Patriarch Lin Ren asked as he poured the warm black tea into the already empty teacup, filling up to the brim.

Daoist Yum picked it up, took a sip, and said, "You are asking me that. Then who am I going to ask?"

Meaning he was the same as him.

"Anyway, the minds of those geniuses will always be in contrast to the logic and reasoning of the masses." Daoist Yun said after taking another sip of the tea.

Then he further added, "Whatever. The Xue Alchemy Union is sending a three-tier Alchemist tomorrow to check up on his eyes. Well, let's see what plan your silver pants grandson is going to hatch tomorrow. Hee-hee-hee, this is going to be fun."

"Fun? Brother Yun, this is a disaster. Judging by his unpredictable attitude, no one knows what drama Dong Er will pull out tomorrow." Old Patriarch Lin Ren responded and then he lamented, "Ah, I only wish that he didn't cause too much trouble for his uncles and the Tier 3 alchemy from the Xue Alchemy Union. We still need to rely on their pills anyway to run our businesses and also for the Lin Family's cultivation."

"Eh, you are overthinking it." Daoist Yun responded and asked, "If you don't like the idea then why don't you stop them from checking Dong Er's eyes? Anyway, from all we know, it is just a ploy to find out the secret of his body."

"I will, okay. This time, the recommendation came from the two envoys. Have a look?" Patriarch Lin said and then he pulled out two pieces of paper with the seals and passed them to Daoist Yun..... (please, stay tuned!)
